Where does everyone put their transponder for racing? I was going to wire it into the battery but then it stays on with the key off. Can someone give me a good location to wire the transponder into?

There is a connector designed just for that under the right side fairing. It's zip-tied or taped down in the space between the frame and the head. Only on when ignition is on.

Any way you can send a picture? I'll look when I'm home but I just want to make sure before I wire it.

No, I don't think so. That looks like the plug in to your Lamba sensors in the exhaust or a temperature sensor from that angle.
Look further back. In the hole in the frame where the wiring pokes out. Mine was tucked back in the hole a bit. There will be a black cap on it protecting the electrical conductors. A lot of guys use that connector for radar detectors, GPS, and other switched low-power uses.

Sorry, nope. No picture. Maybe somebody else can provide you with one.
It's in front of the tank and on the right side. There is a matching connector you can buy from the dealer to wire up a transponder if you don't buy the BMW one. And no, I don't have a part number for it either.

Good luck.

akosi, did you ever wire your transponder to the connector on the ride side of the bike? Reading through the owner's manual, it states that it's for an infrared receiver, and that a similar connector on the left side of the bike is for "optional accessories". I just ordered a cable from BMW to connect to it, but was wondering if anyone else here has and what they did with the LIN wire. Transponder only needs power and ground, but I'm wondering if the bike's electrical system will have issues with things connected without being integrated into the LIN.

Thanks!
