Trailing Throttle/Overun: Help

I have noticed that in Race mode, there is some engine braking (decelerating) down to about 2200 RPM, in sixth (6th) gear, at which point the motorcycle begins to trundle on even without my hands on the bars as if the throttle had been slightly opened. It is as if the injectors have increased the fuel on their own causing the bike to travel on indefinitely apparently. This may also occur in Sport mode, but I can not presently recall.

I can see where this might be helpful in competition but I don't like it and would rather the engine braking continue until I did something with the throttle or clutch to alter the closed throttle situation. I've asked the service tech and he says there is nothing to be done about it.

There is a thread hereon which suggests that this behavior is what the slick plug is all about, and if so fine, but I'm in Race and have the same behavior, i.e. injectors working with a closed throttle.

Perhaps someone can explain the purpose of this: emissions, etc.

With the standard ECU, the bike switches off the injectors when engine braking. Results in quite alot of engine braking, and saves more fuel than you think. However, in order for this to work IRL, the bike has to start injecting fuel again at some point before reaching idle, in order to prevent the bike from stalling when you engage the clutch while not idling.

This results in some bumps when you get under 2500tpm. Further increasing your problem could be a badly remapped bike, or the lack of.

Hi,
I have found the exact same issue after my recent dealer visit. I close the throttle to slow down, and the bike keeps running and going on at 2200 rpm and 40mph. I almost hit a car in front of me, cas this was NEW behavior. I think the firmware/software of the S100RR has been updated...and all the dealers have this new software..and once they connect our bike to their computes, it loads the new software onto our bikes and we cannot go back - Unless your bike did not visit the dealer OR your dealer has NOT updated his software and has the older software sitting in his computer. They tricked us

But this is something we will get used to in a couple of rides. U cannot deccelerate by closing throttle. U need to brake. And u need to pull the clutch in too..else the bike keeps running like a headless chicken.

Thanks Varunrajg, I was beginning to think I was imagining things when no one responded to my post. I think you must be correct for I spent almost 1500 miles on the Dealer's demo which arrived in Dec (I think) of 2011 and most certainly did not "motor on" at around 2200 RPMs with throttle closed!!

MasterTommy NL I guess once again the gov is "helping" me as I'm obviously not intelligent enough to make some change to the engine braking prior to stalling the bike!!

This is most annoying as I like when riding in town to close the throttle in traffic say when approaching a traffic signal and sit up releasing the bars like the show off that I' am and then have to grab them prematurely before I rear end someone or run the traffic signal! I wish there was a fix.

By the way there is a post on here contrasting Slick and Race modes, taking the position that Slick has this "feature" and Race does not, which prompted me to post this thread.
