The picture on the left is a standard non-DDC fork. The numbers listed are for rebound damping setting.

On your preload adjuster you start fully counterclockwise and adjust clockwise until you reach proper sag. Count the # of turns and write it down for future reference.
In the owner's manual they've shown a non-DDC fork to illustrate a DDC fork as the following picture shows. Since the rear preload knob seems to be turning counter-clockwise endlessly I decided to leave the front one alone. Otherwise my intension was to do as you suggested: turn fully in one direction and then in the other to figure out the total number of turns and to then set it somewhere that I prefer.

There is no such thing as a track edition. Your bike came with the solo cowl and deleted passenger pegs, that is it. Nothing different in the "settings".
Sounds like they flipped the eccentric for you.
I think you guys are right. In a multi-brand dealership they probably don't know the details of any one brand. Only a specialized BMW mechanic will have the correct information, and next time I intend to to talk with one of their BMW trained mechanics.

Another explanation I was offered for my bike being taller than the other 2016 S1K sitting in the showroom floor was the possibility that the guy at the BMW factory forgot to set the preload in the middle setting and left it at maximum.

The suspension at maximum preload is more likely than a flipped eccentric.

In any event, I doubt anything is wrong and you will get it sorted out when you speak with the tech.
When you first mentioned 'flipping the eccentric' I thought that was some cool new term for 'pulling your leg,' as in, the was dealer flipping my eccentric. But the second time you mentioned it I realized it's a technical term.

Searching 'flipped the eccentric' on Google leads me back to this forum and pages and pages of discussion. Hopefully I'll figure it out.

Thanks to this forum I now know what to tell the BMW tech: "Hey man, just reduce the spring preload and reverse-flip the eccentric."

Wonderful!

A video of the process is here,.
Thanks Elk. Because of you guys I already know more about S1K suspension settings than anyone even at the dealership, maybe apart from their BMW techs.

I had my last S1K for four years but I never bothered to mess with the suspension, or anything else, but this time, thanks to this forum, I will try to optimize things for myself.
