Does anybody have any user information about the factory alarm on the S1000RR.Thanks Mike

It can be programmed to auto-alarm when the ignition key is removed or the more traditional pressing of a button on the fob to arm it.

The best bit is that simply inserting the ignition key disarms the alarm - no need to press a button on the fob - just put the ignition key in before jumping on the bike

You also need to turn the key on to un-arm the alarm. If you put the key in and upright the bike the alarm MAY go off but may not.

You can set the alarm to auto or manual arm. You can set the turn signals to blink when arming/disarming. You can choose between two different sounds--one is called swelling and the other I forget. I think there is one more option you can choose.

The factory alarm is pretty good but the coded key is a good theft deterrent in itself.
Some cons of the factory alarm are:

sensitivity is set and cannot be changed

no proximity detector

Some of the pros:

works well with the CAN bus system

red light on dash blinks showing you and others there is an alarm activated on this bike

fairly easy to program (with directions of course)

easy to disarm with only key (FOB is not necessary as it is with some other alarms). you can get a replacement or extra FOB for about $50.

needs to be dealer or factory installed and/or uninstalled

takes up most of your trunk space (Scorpio's is a little smaller)

I found a PDF version of the alarm owners manual and I tested it on my S1000RR alarm system and it works.

Welcome to BMW

EDIT:

Just a note for anyone that reprograms their alarm, when it asks you to press button 1 or 2, make sure you hold it down for a good solid second or two and release for a second before pressing again.
This is exactly what I needed for my insurance company, thank you.

Right, so I know this is a really old post, but I had my bike at the dealer today, and the alarm doesnt seem to be working.

It activates OK (Blinks and beeps twice), but no matter what I do to the bike, the alarm does not go off.

The dealer said there is nothing they can change on the computer..

Does anyone have any idea what's wrong?
