Holy thread revival. :surprise:

My girl likes riding on all of my bikes. Especially my R1. So once I get the S1000RR, she'll be all over it.
haha holy thread revival is right. :grin2:

2 Up on the S1000RR is great, no issues at all...very smooth and plenty of power.

Can't speak about the comfort but my wife can only go for 1 hour at a time.

On my 2016, I've had a "friend" as passenger. We're pushing the weight limit with me at high 200's and her at mid 150's. Definately changes the feel of the bike, but coming from my gsxr600 the first thing she mentioned was "yeah! its a lot smoother". All rides under 30 minutes, 90 minutes total.

Did anyone here tried the comfort passenger seat? This is an option seat from the dealer other than oe normal seat. I ordered it but its currently b/o and its pretty expensive after all. Not sure if its a good deal or just thrown out money for a seat that may never be used..

Good for couple hundred miles with breaks

I finally got my wife on the back of my 2016 S1RR, and we did around 200 mile trip, but stopped 2 times. She is new to being a pillion and was really leaning into me, and this made it tough on my wrists. I could not wait for the last 20 miles or so to end to get her off and give my wrists a rest. All in all, it was not that bad, probably a bad idea on my part to take someone brand new out for for the first time on a 200 mile trip.

I would recommend it, but for someone new to biking then I would suggest a break evert 30-50 mile, just to check on them and I would recommend keeping it <200 miles for the 1st time out with a new passenger.

I weight around 190lb and my wife is 120lb. The bike was flawless in execution, it did not care about the extra weight,

My wife rode mine once and that made it pretty easy to convince her the XR would be a good alternative for when she wants to ride. BTW, she loves that one and I love being on the RR without worrying about scaring the crap out of her. Not to mention there's no way in hell I'd want to be perched on that tiny excuse for a seat..

That was a risky move going 200 miles, geez. Done some miles with girls who somewhat know how to ride on the back, its not bad, found this bike makes them lean on you more than my old Gsxr or R1.

I took my ex on the back of mine and it was not fun in the least because she kept leaning on me too hard and it never improved on future rides and got very annoying and stressful on the wrists, was new to this too. Needless to say we never went more than 10 miles.

I got my wife to sit on my S1000RR once for about 30 seconds when I first
got it. She said that she would never sit on it again and hasn't, said she was
not a teeny bopper. :frown2:

But we do ride together on my R100CS which I've had for about 10 years.
Been all over Europe on it when I was overseas. :smile2:

Has anyone ever had some one on the back of their S1k?? my wife likes to tag along from time to time and I don't really want a touring bike so she's gotta be able to deal with this one

Danny, BMW offer a pillion "comfort" seat option...i bought one for my 2015 but fits all models and my girlfriend says its a vast improvement on the stock seat.....it's wider with deeper foam etc .....highly recommended :wink2:

You are right!

I agree. My wrists were killing me the last 20 miles back home. It was too much for her and for me. It is a strange seating position as rear seat is angled, which will make a pillion lean more into you. It is more than normal, even for a sports bike, guess in the future we will be doing shorter runs. I had the bike out today for the first time in weeks. It was awesome to get back on the road.

My wife has asked me to look into buying a touring bike as I know she is not keen to get back on the S1RR. I am thinking to buy a R1600 GT....

First off, I have never been a big fan of two up riding. If I need to carry another person, we take the car. When my wife looked at the rear seat of my RR she winced, and said N E V E R. Very soon the rear pegs will be off before she has a chance to change her mind.

I DID passenger thing a a few times when I had my Busa and that was not too bad. I didnt keep that bike very long and traded it for a ZX-10R and reverted to my single seat ways quickly.

With a sport bike the engineers have done their best to produce a moto that handles. Putting 50 or more kg. on the back just ruins everything. (IMHO)

Unless you're really old (I'm a few months from 50), or really like big heavy bikes, think XR instead. Don't believe the forumers that say it's buzzy either.

Does the 2015+ have a worse seating position for passenger than the 10-14?

I tried 2 up riding yesterday on my new bike and it was awful, like I was 3 streets away from leaving the girls house and was like "NO, this is not working for me." Tried re-adjusting and everything and it just wasn't working, had my ass as far back as it could go and i'm 6'1" and she was like sitting on me, felt like doing push ups on the handlebars, bike was very unsteady under 10 mph. Girl was like 135ish, few more pounds than i'm used to but ridden with her before on other bikes.

Had to cancel my dinner reservation and we went to a local place lol, s1000rr was a serious CB yesterday :serious:

The 2012-14 have a passenger seat with the peak. Not sure why, it's very uncomfortable. The 2015+ have a flat passenger seat, which is more bearable. I've ridden on the back of Russ' bike a few times, it's ok until after about 30 mins. Thankfully we haven't had to 2 up too much. Although sometimes it is nice to actually sit back and zone out, you actually notice your surroundings which can be nice :)

I have 2 bikes, an R6 & the RR. From personal experience, all the times that I've taken a girl on the RR(around 3 times)..I've heard complaints about the seating positions & overall comfort. Funny thing, never heard a single complaint on the R6(dozens of times). Not a single one. Now keep in mind, I haven't had a girl sit on both bikes so maybe not the best comparison but just wanted to throw that out there. I wanted to keep the RR just for me but was curious to see how it would fair. So yeah, RR really isn't that comfortable for a passenger.

Conclusion: The RR will only be for me. The R6 is the date bike.
