Quick question on levers and lever guards and what people use if any aftermarket...

Hi all,

Haven't really posted much lately because I was busy visiting my friend in the garage keeping it less lonely while spring took forever to come...

I am wondering if people can help me figure out a dilema of mine with both levers and getting new guards. What aftermarket versions do people use? Are the M amazing compared to stock (I just have stock unfortunately atm). Has anyone been able to find a way to black out the blue on the M levers? Can I still use the M guards with aftermarket parts or are there much better options? I like the breakaway ability of the M version where it can protect the levers during one of my hundreds of drops but break away during a lowside protecting things. I am very interested in upgrading my levers and adding guards but I don't want to introduce any color to my bike if possible (especially the blue the M has on the dials).

Thanks and hope everyone is starting to enjoy the new season!

I use the M lever guards and they work well/Im happy with them. I've heard the Evotech ones are good (better?) as well.
M lever guards and galespeed for the clutch
For either of you, does it look like the blue adjustable on both levers can be removed temporarily? Easy way to unscrew and open it? I want to know because ideally I would remove it send it to my painter/detailer and it comes back black. :|

Jerry, I actually just wanted to know if they can be taken apart initially. Once taken apart I have an awesome powder coat guy who is going to change them from blue to black. Then I will end up taking them back to the dealership and installed. It's a completely non-functional change and doesn't affect it in the least. I have looked at some of the other ones and I just like how it will detail out on my bike once completed.

Josh/Ravenbravo, thanks for the heads up, both options are really nice, I just saw the M's in person and they fit more what I'm going for atm.

I have these in the black and blue. Easy to install and look good.

I personally don’t mind the stock levers, at least they’re a nice textured black finish as opposed to the chrome/polished metal OEMs typically use. I do wish they folded but then again I’ve never snapped a lever from a drop.

As nice as the M levers are, the price is kinda silly compared to some of the premium aftermarket options. Replaced both levers on my old bike with carbon CRGs and those were less than one M lever. Too bad they don’t fit this bike.

The lever guards are definitely worth it though. Not only from a protection standpoint, but also from a NVH aspect as it calms some of the vibration felt through the bars.
