As I guess you know there was a service bulletin on the filters made in Brazil and not the ones from Austria. Why not just stick with filters made in Austria?

 

Im aware of the recall of the Brazil filters ending with 04. My best guess is the filters are made in Brazil now. This filter is from the dealer, same dealer I got the Austria one from last year.
When you search for the filter, this is what you get

Looks to me that there is a change in the bypass valve for the oil filter. Would be interesting to cut one open to see the full differences.

 

Been covered. 779 went to 567. Now they have a new filter coming. Already been mentioned the part number. 779 for models other than S and M. 567 was used instead. Now a new one after 567.

Beemer Boneyard just got the new Mahle filters back in stock. They are the correct filter with the large gasket.

 

Forgot about the Mahle alternative. I've gone to Mahle filters for my 135i. Same as the OEM branded filters and even includes a crush washer for the drain plug, and the two O rings for the plastic filter housing that the OEM filter includes.

May go this route for the next oil change.

 

The Brazilian filter has trouble with the oil pressure. At 12500rpm and up the filter lose oil and this could be really dangerous expecially if you're riding on track. Here in Italy there was a massive recall for all the s1000rr that have on the brasilian filter.

 

Update: Called Wunderlich USA and the OC1824 MAHLE filter they have in stock (brand new batch) has the following stamps on it:

That manufacture date also matches the (admittedly stock) photo on their website.
So, it looks like the manufacture date is post-recall, which is good news for the US folks.
