Hey guys - I'm in Afghanistan right now, but when in the states, you'll find me in the DC (Fairfax) area....I ordered a S1K from Morton's that I'll pick up when I get back. It's my first BMW bike - I've been a loyal Suzuki guy, but I decided it was time for a change.....

Stay safe over there brother!!!!!! After the street rides, come join us at Summit sometime (you can basically do Shenny in all of second, third gear - great track to get use to road courses because the speeds are kept down by all the corners) and then there's Main. If you got the stones and are super comfortable on the brakes, you'll see some speeds on that straight that will make you think twice (it has to do with the 50mph turn 1 at the end of it and scrubbing off 110 + mph going into it. . .:D).

Once again, stay safe and THANK YOU for keeping us safe!!!!!!!

I did Summit Main a lot on a GSXR1k back in 2007, before I did a tour in Mexico. If I came out of T10 well, I would see 187 (indicated...) before diving into T1. I can't see doing the other two course there with a big bike like a S1k - I'd much prefer a motard for those.....

The folks that do the VA breakfast aren't dedicated to S1kRR but to BMW. The RRs would be rare and the GS the norm but it's a good bunch. Lots of info on bmwbmw.org with another forum full of info, both local and brand specific.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new toy purchase. My first bike was an '02 GSX-R750... over a decade later, it still has a special place in my heart. I relocated to Alexandria from Hawaii. Unfortunately, I no longer ride on the street...but have been having a blast on the track with NESBA. I hope to see you track side when you get back home...meanwhile, stay safe and enjoy the rest of your deployment.

Cheers,
Majdi

What a great bike you bought! Brakes, acceleration, looks, smooth docile handling in traffic are all reasons why you bought the best liter bike your money can buy at this price. I'm having a blast picking out all the things I want to make it just the way I want it. Best of luck and give me a holler if you ever come up to Long Island.
