There's lots of race takeoffs for sale here on the forum. Visually very little difference to the standard S1000 rear pegs. But that price must include some other stuff, like a seat, a can of wax, and a little guy to polish your bike? The dealers must think we are crazy.

I have read in a number of threads on her that the passenger kit was an option for $285
My dealer is telling me I have to pay
$1500
I said no
Anyone willing to sell me one they are not using ?

The passenger kit came with my bike. Didn't request it as an option. Came with the passenger pegs on the bike but the seat was in the bag with the other goodies (seat cowl was on the bike). I took the passenger pegs off since I really have no interest in riding a passenger on this bike. Bottom line, though...you should have received it with the bike. Look on your invoice and see what they billed you for. If the clown wants $1500, then he's trying to bend you over. Total BS.

Some dealers include the seat as the total price some have them as options, but the grand total should be the same. I got two quotes. One from Toronto and one from Ottawa. Both had the same total. One broke it down one didn't.

Dealer told me they forgot to order the passenger kit with the bike for the $400 so now they have to order individual pieces so thats why the high price

Would you sell me yours of you don't use the footrests & seat ?

This is for a US model HP4? All the HP4's come with the passenger foot pegs & bracket mounted. The seat comes in a foam packing. If they tell you otherwise, they're lying or took off the part to sell separately!

Mine had the passenger kit. I did not want it and the amount above ($325 plus tax, as in FBTO's post) was deducted from my total. $1500! That's hard to believe...either he thinks you are a chump or the dealer is himself/herself mistaken.

Trying to sort out right now whether I may have to sell the whole bike actually (long story). If I do, will probably keep the passenger goodies together with the bike. Won't know for several more weeks, but I will def let you know if I keep the bike and decide to let the passenger stuff go. Been sitting on that same fence on the sticker kit too. As far as your dealer goes, they are completely full of shyte. No one with a brain would ask, or pay, $1500 for this. Hard to believe they would even say something that stupid. It's an insult to your intelligence and you should call the guy an idiot to his face, 'cause he obviously thinks you're one. Let's see, that's $500 for the seat, and another $500 for each peg. WTF!!

I'd escalate it above the dealer's head. There's probably an ombudsman to deal with issues like this. From their website:

Our Customer Service Department is available Monday through Friday from 9:00AM to 9:00PM, Eastern Time. You can reach a representative by calling 1-800-831-1117, or you can e-mail us at CustomerService@bmwmotorcycles.com.

Studies show that help desk calls that include choice profanities and angry customers get quick attention from help desk managers.
