Ok guys here is my story am building a custom y-pipe for my exhaust which I already have an Akrapovic headers for. But I have some questions regarding BOTH of the SERVOS that are on the OEM one. Now I've read a lot on this but there's something that I don't get. How for all the aftermarket exhaust they don't come with the flapper. Yet I have to keep my servo cables attached. Does that mean that whenever I take off my oem the flapper thing should be taken off but the servo still cables in contact.

Excuse my lack of knowledge. Some experienced help would be much appreciated.

Thank you

From my understanding, the flapper valve is basically put in merely for emissions purposes. When you change to a full aftermarket exhaust then there is no need for the emissions equipment.

So, if you are building your own custom y pipe don't worry about the servos on the pipe or the flapper valve that is in it. Furthermore, you can take the servo cables completely off the bike. Just be careful not to turn/spin the servo pulleys that are located under the seat. That is where the servo cables attach.

Search "Dan Moto cat delete" and it will give you some more information as well as some pics or vids.

Cause that is basically what you are doing with making your own y pipe.

Hope this helped.

On my 2010, I was able to remove everything cables and the servos themselves with no ill-effect. Just unplugged them from the harness and removed them from the bike. It caused no error codes on the dash.

That looks to be a pretty good write up.

Although i took the cables of the mid pipe before I took them off from the servo motor under the seat.

It looks a little daunting at first but once you get in there and see things it's fairly easy.

So, do you have aftermarket headers that you are linking your custom y pipe to?

Or are you using the factory headers and just cutting off the catalytic converter?

Yea I actually have Akra headers and now am getting my custom mid pipe done to link with a Yosh slip-on.

I actually went to the dealership so i can get a better idea on how this stuff works so from I've been told is exactly what you said. I can take everything out but without touching the motor which is under the seat, even the cables so that's good. Hopefully i'll get it up running like a beast on Friday.

That's nice man! I just ran into a bummer that ruined my day! The Akra headers that I bought from a member on the forum didn't fit my bike which is like :S WTH like this guy should've told me that it won't fit 2013 but instead he was like it's 2012+ but whatever am just going to cut my OEM headers and still do the mid-pipe and run my thing.

Now am going to start looking for a decent headers so I can still get my performance right.

BTW my Yosh is not an R55 or R77 it's an R11 I don't think a lot of people know about it but it sounds so different than any other in my opinion. ;)

That makes no sense to me...

I have a 2012 which I put 2010 Headers on for a while before eventually going full system, granted it was't Akra but still, AFAIK, they are all the same 10-14.

What do you mean by the flanges are off by a quarter inch? In which direction? Also, what do the parts measure that go into the head vs the OEM's?
