What is the difference in cast wheels vs forged on the '22 S1KRR? I'm just looking into some of the rotors stating they can't be used with the cast rims. I'll be swapping out the front and rear calipers to brembo and I think it would also be beneficial for rotors as well. I have cast rims so would need to get forged or aftermarket I'm assuming if I want to add rotors with the calipers. Thanks.

There is a quite a difference in feel from a rotating cast wheel to a forged wheel. weight spins and creates rotational forces. Some are good, some not so good in reaction.

So the cast wheel rotor is different from the forged and carbon version wheels. You might check braketech website and see if they have the K67 cast wheel rotors for sale yet. They just released the forged and carbon wheel versions late last year.

You work your way to spending alot of money on the braking system. Get the calipers first is fine. Get the rotors for the cast if you think you can live with that rotation weight. I would get the forged wheels first and even just use the OEM rotors for bit, then the rotors upgrade can be several companies now offer for the K67 forged and carbon wheels. I have 3 different brands now. Alpha 6mm, BrakeTech 6mm, and now TK Dischi freno 6mm

Thank you for this information. I had forged on my '18 so will be interesting to see if i notice a difference. I will go ahead and start with the calipers and probably source some forged oem rims and do the rotors after the calipers. Really good info! Thanks.

I don't know the answer but I do believe there is a difference in thickness in the OEM rotors depending on the wheels you get from new. This I believe is important regarding the calipers you get but as always I could be wrong. Best to check with dealer (at least). Since you have cast wheels you may have thinner rotors than if you had forged from new. My opinion FWIW is to ride the bike with the stock calipers for a while - you may like them. I do and have a 2021 bike with forged wheels from new (my calipers are the "new" black nissin calipers - nissin is printed on the rear side of the caliper).

The cast wheels do have thinner rotors than the forged and carbon sets. However, the rotor offset is the same so that any 100mm caliper works. So that covers everything from the less than useful Hayes to the Brembo M4 to the Brembo GP4 to the Nissin Blue or Black calipers .

I can't speak to the disk thickness, but I test rode the 2014 with the forged and the 2015 with the cast, and I made sure to order forged wheels on mine. It was weird, it was like they somehow made the bike noticeably easier to turn yet seemed to keep the bike just as stable.
