Finishing stripping down the R and checking things when I found this between the headlights. The wiring going to it has patterned fabric sheathing so assuming it's not OEM.

Since bike had that monster horn I'm guessing it's a motion sensor for an alarm.

It's an intake air temp sensor. yes you need it. Looks like it's been relocated to the airbox.

IAT relocation at its worse there... I wonder what they put in its place in the air box?

Wonder no more, though I have no idea what it is, a plug from an IAT relocation kit I reckon.

After reading up on this it seems the value is negligible (I'm not a racer) but not worth putting back in the airbox.

so sad the bad information about IAT .. it was a car thing back in the 2000-2010 time frame and someone decided it was a money maker and promoted it as a upgrade.

I only ever noticed the difference when drag racing. And maybe 10-15 mins between runs
