The throttle has cables from the twist grip down to a potentiometer sensor. It also has a another sensor for the actual butterfly valves in the throttle body.

The throttle has no cables. It has electrical wires. It has a built in sensor in the twist grip housing itself. The throttle body still has the butterfly valve sensor.

Bikes can go into limp mode from a faulty sensor and will show an engine light on the dash. The twist grip will not respond to input. Either the twist grip sensor or throttle body sensor will need replacing and in some cases the actual throttle body unit itself.
