I have a new M1000rr and went with the Rs2e flash. I am using the bike as race only however, but can imagine no drawbacks to having it on a roadbike.
Also, had the Rs2e on my previous s1000rr and can only say good things about it.
I just did a road trip on my RS2E "R" map - managed 145mile range on a cruise. Behaved impeccably.

I was really thinking about trying them out. Never road a bike with their tune. How many miles did you have on the bike already before you finally tuned it? From my understanding, you have to send them the cluster and ECU ? Whats the cost? like 800 us dollar?
1600 miles on my '23. I had it on my Gen 3 too.
800 euro's plus postage.

thats the route i'll probably go after 2-3k miles non flashed. Just to work out any potential kinks that are lingering. Did you have to send them the dash cluster, ECU, and throttle housing? I dont mind doing all of that, but I've heard some people have and others havn't .....
Engine ECU, Light ECU for (Adaptive Lights / Daylight Running Lights) and Dash.
I could have sent the throttle too, they modify it to be quicker action, but I felt comfortable with the OEM throttle so didn't this time, I had the short (54-58 degrees) on my Gen3.

The throttle can be tuned to be as quick as you want. Just request it from the tuner...if they even know how to do it. I did it on my bike. For example, when the throttle grip is at 50%, the throttles are commanded to open at 60%.
Yes I know. RS2E map anything above ~90% to equal 100%. I was talking about physical changes to the throttle tube, which reduce the time and distance to full throttle.

M engine spins up differently, it is a different experience, one that cannot be explained on paper.
(not saying it's $20k of difference)

No. BMW is just making a shite ton of money from the M model. You are just paying for carbon fiber. Other than that, the bikes are identical. I almost bought the M model over the S. But after doing my research, and having an IQ of 130, the M model is really a stupid buy. Doesn't make any sense. Its just for looks. My beef is when people say it is a 'better' bike, but can't back up their claims.
If it wasn't a better base bike for RACING, the teams' wouldn't buy them. It is, they do.

Sometimes it's not about price, but rather about relationship with the tuner and previous history. No doubt others can flash an ECU, it comes down to where and who you want to spend $ with. In the world we live in today, choosing where we spend usually comes from marketing and efforts alike. Some prefer to stick with what they know and have previous experiences with. To each their own :)
^This^ x💯 - I choose RS2E everytime because I trust them and am happy with their advice. I don't assume I know better than people who've been in the business a while and worked on factory WSBK electronics...

I can toss back: Pay cheap, pay twice - VFM is not the cheapest option.

You can't 'tune' your BMW. You can only remove the restrictions. I bet your tuner will refuse to show you everything that he changed in your ECU. Why? Because he is not actually tuning it or increasing the HP. Yes, removing restrictions is cheap and only takes a few minutes to do.
That IQ of yours is holding you back.
There is more to life than horsepower.

No. Its the same motor. Only difference is the Ti rods and 2 rings per piston (which makes the engine less reliable and more fragile), which only allows for a miniscule amount of RPM increase over the S1K. BOTH bikes have the SAME heads.

The M comes with less capable suspension (manual adjustments) vs the S1K electronic suspension, which is superior.

The added cost is for the Ti rods, not a 'fully built motor'. 😆

You...are...only...paying...for...carbon fiber. 🤡
Honestly. Please, just do some research.
I don't think it's worth the premium but the K66 and K67 are different in certain ways. The wheels aren't interchangable, swingarm is different, brakes are different, the engine is way more honed and small volume with higher cost tooling processes, the carbon...
The only thing I will grant you is that the suspension is pretty mediocre for the class of bike, because they expect you to bin it.
