Hi I'm new to this board and I'm thinking of getting S1000RR as my primary bike for the road. I currently have Kawasaki Concours 14 and Husky 610TE. I want to replace C14 since my girl will be getting her own bike. Also I have a trip coming up to do about 3K miles in one week. Is this trip doable on RR? I'm 6ft 200LBS. My previous bikes were Ducati 1098, Ducati HM, Kawasaki ZX14, KTM 950, ZX10, Ninja 600.

After the tour I will do some track days and ride with a local club for which RR will be perfect.

BTW great forum!

if the SW Motech bags can work with my long Akrapovic, I think I will invest in a full touring setup.

Even without side panniers, I plan to shoot for an Ironbutt on this bike. There are better bikes to do 1000 miles in 24 hours on, but I want to prove that it is doable.

I've done 600 highway miles in 13 hours, and that included a LOT of naps, meals, chillaxing, and never pushing myself. Doing the Ironbutt should be fine.

I did 1457 miles over a 4 day weekend last week. From Michigan, down to Lexington, KY for work. Back up to Newport, KY for the night. Then back roads to and in West Virginia for a couple days, then up to Kalahari in Sandusky OH for a night. Then home. Of say touring on the RR is very doable. I have the BMW luggage, a tech mount with ram attachment for my iphone with tomtom. Cardo G4 in helmet, and I wired a charger in. Setup is perfect. I think it's like anything else, once you and your body get used to it there's no problem.

Does anyone have any good ideas for a really comfortable seat?

I did 1700KM's in one day last year and it killed my a$$.

I've got a 9 day 6000+ KM trip planned over the first week of July and want some kind of seat cover, maybe sheep skin cover?

Was considering a tank bag, but it seems to me that they barely hold anything, and it seems too intrusive. Tail bag should be good enough.

1600+ miles - 4 days

Just returned from a 1600+ miles backroads trip to Crater lake in 4 days. Eat sleep ride!!! - Heli bars, everything else stock.

Two other bikes that went with me - Honda ST1100 Sports tourer and a triumph speed triple. THe guy on the speed triple was worst hit becuase of the lack of wind protection. Hes pretty wasted, but the S1K did pretty well.
