New York is easy. All New York requires is August 1985 and newer motorcycles must have turn signals, amber to the front, red or amber to the rear, and visible/working.

CHP doesn't care what signals, mirrors, or aftermarket exhaust your'e running.....until you give them a reason to.

Be a dick, get a dick ticket. Be cool, and CHP is cool.

they consider exceeding the speed limit being a dick... so ill always be a dick.

i guess if you ride/drive like a grandma all the time youre "cool"

Vehicle lighting requirements are governed by the States. For California, see 13 CCR § 699 Turn Signal Lamps. CA requires 9 inch separation. Other states require only that the lights clearly indicate the intention of the rider at 100 feet, etc.
While the state may have additional requirements there are also federal requirements... my original post has the link to the federal law which details the 9” requirement.
