I've been riding with a passenger a lot lately and they often lean against the gas tank with their glove. I've noticed smudges and scratches to the clear coat and I want to add a clear polyurethane protector over the tank. I'm mostly looking to cover the "shoulders" of the tank, imagine just a little below and to the sides of the fuel filler cap. I've seen plenty of grip focused tank protectors that cover the center, or side panels, but I'm looking for something that will cover the entire metal part of the tank. I've found R&G Second Skin, and Eazi-Grip PPF which is exactly what I'm looking for, but they don't seem to have a part that covers the tank as described.

Has anyone found a product or done a DIY using the roll film? I'm thinking I can probably buy a roll and trace / cut pieces to exact size.

Get a carbon tank shroud, it will give you & passenger more leverage, and protect the tank. SE moto makes them, plus some other brands.
