Hi guys,

I have a 2017 S1000XR with 27,000kms (18odd,000 miles I guess) and it’s just started rattling underneath somewhere.

When you turn the ignition on it starts straight making the noise straight away and with the ignition off it keeps making rattling noises and vibrating for another 15-20 seconds....

It started about 20 minutes after filling up the gas tank.

Any advice or thoughts???

Cheers

you would have to post a sound bit of the noise. Some people confuse the throttle bodies making noise vs it being the fuel pump.

It’s a little unit immediately to the left of the rear brake lever inside the rear chassis rail and right behind and under the fuel tank. You can feel is vibrating badly as it’s making the rattling noise... I do t know what that unit is but assumed it was the fuel pump as it comes on the the ignition and stays on for a while after it is turned off.,, it’s pretty load!

The fuel pump is inside the fuel tank.

that is the exhaust flapper solenoid you are describing. the cable gets out of adjustment and it will vibrate and make a humming. Try adjusting the cables or get a servo buddy and remove the thing.
