New tires 2021

Ok I read thru a bunch of tire threads and most seem old so I'm asking for advice on the best tire out now (August 2021).
What tire are you feeling now?
I am looking for something probably 60% track and 40% street.
I am just getting into track riding, did my first one a few weeks ago and have another beginning of September. So I'm a novice. Looking for something with the best grip (track), I am not that concerned with longevity. A plus would be something on the street that handles occasional gravel and horse **** well (I live in amishland) LOL 😆
I have a 2021 s1000rr and still has the oem tires on it.

Have you tried both?

No, but I know the biggest Bridgestone dealer in the UK, ex BSB champion who uses them when wettish.

From cuts, I only use Rosso Corso 2.

From slicks only V02s.
I was a huge Dunlop Q3 & Q3+ fan for my 2013 s1000rr. I loved how steep the tires where and the aggressive nature of the tire. But I would go through a set in as little of 2500 miles. The technicians at the dealer would take my old tires because the sidewalls would be worn out before the middle.

But now with the new 2021 s1000rr with CF wheels. Totally different even with the factory provided Michelin tires. They seem ok, but I ride rather aggressive and not afraid to lean the bike in on a corner.

So everyone’s experience with different tires is super interesting. So please share.

I was thinking because of low availability of 200/55 & 200/60 rear tires it has made me think of going to a 190/55. Has anyone done so? If so what was your results on the BMW carbon fiber wheels?

I know each tire manufacturer and their tire profile can always be very different but I was wondering if we had any road racers here what do they prefer?

Has anyone gone form the 200/55 to a 200/60? What was the results?

Right off the bat with zero adjustments from the factory the 2021 is right out of the box 3 mph faster while hitting various long corners. I’m just running the bike in Road mode and Dynamic until I start playing around with Race or Race Pro mode.

Being I am not even at 1k miles yet, still just breaking it all in. It seems pointless adjusting to help make the bike more nimble as this new motorcycle is from previous versions an unbelievable ridding difference.

Without truly running it on the track and data logging everything it’s hard to figure out what is the best choice when it comes to tires. They are just all so good unlike 20 years ago.

Please share any information or advice and thoughts on what the next choice should be for new tires.

Thanks.

60 profile tips in better/faster. Bike pick up feels more planted.
Just go up to 60, I won't go back to 55.
BTW Pirelli has 200/65 now, 125 front.

Because the 60 raises the rear compared to the 55?
^ Yes, tire profile is taller 5mm. Even on my street bike I prefer 200/60 lol.

Did the same on my old TL. Dropped the front 5mm raised the rear 5mm + a taller rear tire.

I had done the 190/55 on my 2013 s1000rr. The huge improvement made by the extra 5mm was superior to the 190/50 that the bike had shipped with.

The new 2021 s1000rr M geometry can be changed in ways I’ve never seen on a street bike without serious modifications. Even the longer wheel base on the 2021 vs the 2013 is incredible. Out of the box with no changes I’m already 4 mph faster around/in and changing corners. Traversing seems effortless.

The BMW is still the best bike I have ever saddled up on. I’ll try the 200/60 on the next change of rubber. I don’t care much for going in a straight line at high speed. If 5mm gives it the advantage like the shorter wheelbase 2013. Then I’m all about it.

Thanks.

What brand tires is everyone finding to be the best? Everyone has different opinions, don’t want to start an argument. But I believe everybody’s opinions is important. All the brands are so good now a days, It is just so hard to chose.

I've had S20, S21, and now S22. Loved / love them all. Marketing says S22 are better than the predecessors, though I never had problems. I am at the slower half of the B group.
S22's are great.
Rs10's are better in my opinion.
I just slapped on some q4's and I really dig them!!! So far Q4's for the win.

I didn't want to go into too many details, but yes, I actually have RS11 front now. I mounted it for the track day and will replace it with the S22 from the set I bought when it is worn out, this way hopefully reaching end of life of two fronts and one rear around the same time. But I never had any problems with S22 for everyday riding. Haven't tried Q4 yet. (I live in Seattle, with some almost vertical streets, often wet)
Wondering if anyone has any updates on their tire choice? Bike is 2021 S1000rr. Following this thread as I've burned through the stock K3's. Bike will be 50% street/mountain/canyons and 50% track with hopefully more track time.

I like the Meltzer's was thinking of trying the K1 and have a soft spot for Michelin and Bridgestone from my old racing days. However, leaning towards the SC SP or TD because of the 60 series availability and STG has the SC SP on sale.

I've been out of the street/trackways tire game for awhile, really appreciate everyone's input.

I use Power 5s on the road and have recently switch to Power Performance Slicks on the track.

TD tires will be done in under 1500 miles.
The Diabolo Rosso IV just came out, with 60 profile, you may want to give that a try. Of course if longevity is not an issue, TD will have best DOT grip from Pirelli.
Or you can run a TD front, a Rosso rear to balance the two (what I do on street).

Had the Metzeler m7’s not great but switched to power 5s on the street night and day difference

See, I LOVE my M7's. As sticky as I'd want, and they get pretty good mileage (4,500-5,500mi). And the M9's are supposed to be better in every way, so, I can't wait to try those. Yes, they're not as sticky as the Supercorsa's that came OEM on my 2015 with the forgies (that made you feel like Superman), but, they're a LOT cheaper, and better in the rain.

What problems or dislikes did you have with the M7's?

How do you get that sort of mileage out of a set of tires? I must not be doing it right?!?!
Q4 was excellent on my 2013 s1000rr, but they where gone in 2500 miles. Super soft can’t run over anything.

I run street pressures on the street (people that use race pressures are doing nothing but overheating and destroying their tire), and I'm very smooth with the throttle. Don't do burnouts or anything, and rarely do any kind of "top speed" run. Don't hammer it away from every stop.
