Long time MX rider and last week on a whim I went into the dealer and they had a '23 M package with forged wheels and the premium option available for $23,700 MSRP. I happen to have that much burning a hole in my pocket so it came home with me. I am pretty sure the winglets pushed me over the edge 8). My first sport bike since I had a '93 900rr. It is definitely quite different.

Rode it 125 miles yesterday after I picked it up and I am super happy! My only complaint is some buzzing vibration in the throttle side of the handlebars at higher rpm. Thank goodness for the cruise control so I can give my hand a rest. Oh and also with all the electronics it should have Apple CarPlay lol. My favorite option so far is the hill assist.

If anyone else is in the San Diego area I would like to find some people to ride with. Also thanks so far for all the information I have found on here! I do plan on doing some track days and possibly the Superbike School.

Congrats on the new bike. While off-road riding certainly is a great skill developer, as a previous owner (and amateur racer) of two RRs, here's some unsolicited advice: Resist the urge to load up the moto with add-on options and invest the money instead on (a) training (the CSS is a great place, but also use on-track coaching at track days) and (b) the best protective gear (i.e. leathers, gloves, boots, helmet) you can get. If I was shopping today I'd try the airbag leathers...
It's tempting to toss the stock exhaust. Let it break in a bit, after about 1,000 miles they either loosen up and sound way better, or one gets used to loving the stock sound. The bike has plenty of stock power, so unless you really feel the flat spot, etc., investing in an ECU or fuel controller is also overkill. Just ride and ride some more. Wish I lived in SoCal. Enjoy!

Thanks for this solid advice! I was thinking along these lines.

I see this all too often w/BMW cars. First thing too many people do is replace the stock exhaust. I can only imagine how obnoxiously loud some exhausts must sound once they fully break in.

Heat and time seem to be the trick. For cars, long drives, track days and autocross help. My stock BMW car exhaust started breaking in real nicely just by driving up to and back from a BMW event at Monticello Motor Club, ~3h each way.
