Long time MX rider and last week on a whim I went into the dealer and they had a '23 M package with forged wheels and the premium option available for $23,700 MSRP. I happen to have that much burning a hole in my pocket so it came home with me. I am pretty sure the winglets pushed me over the edge 8). My first sport bike since I had a '93 900rr. It is definitely quite different.

Rode it 125 miles yesterday after I picked it up and I am super happy! My only complaint is some buzzing vibration in the throttle side of the handlebars at higher rpm. Thank goodness for the cruise control so I can give my hand a rest. Oh and also with all the electronics it should have Apple CarPlay lol. My favorite option so far is the hill assist.

If anyone else is in the San Diego area I would like to find some people to ride with. Also thanks so far for all the information I have found on here! I do plan on doing some track days and possibly the Superbike School.

Welcome to the forum. Enjoy your bike in good health.
unfortunately bmw is pretty well known for not giving us carplay :/ Hopefully they eventually give in, i’ve never been a huge fan of their bluetooth interface on any vehicle. Congrats on the bike! Just picked up an identical spec to yours, same price as well.

Welcome, and you should get that white grease off that chain before you ride much more. That stuff will heat up and sling all over the swing arm.

M brake and clutch lever guards will dampen that vibration

Good call I will get that done! Thanks!

Great tip, thank you!
EDIT: Apple Wireless CarPlay requires bluetooth AND WiFi. BMW motorcycles don't have WiFi hardware.

EDIT: Seems this was speculation by autoevolution.

EDIT: but I they seem to be looking into it...
Apple CarPlay does not require WiFi. Its does not even require bluetooth if you cable the phone to the system with Apple CarPlay.

Apple CarPlay is a license software package. Many OEM cars and Trucks have issues with making an agreement with Apple on this darn license. Once the license is done, the hardware only requires a USB cable interface.

You are describing wired Apple CarPlay, I had incorrectly thought that Apple sunset it and certainly wasn't aware of any manufacturers still supporting it. My mistake, corrected comment above.

I am fairly confident BMW dropped wired Apple CarPlay a while back, at least since iDrive 5. As for other manufactures support, don't know, don't care.

Pretty sure licensing isn't the obstacle to support.
Apple Wireless CarPlay.
Apple CarPlay uses WiFi to stream everything not BT, BT is only used for the initial handshake.

Guessing 99% of you won't care but here is the info anyway.

When using the USB port... (2019)

How wireless works... (aka Wifi + Bluetooth)

https://developer.apple.com/videos/p.../722/?time=913

Bluetooth is used for discovery and the initial connection. Once the Wi-Fi credentials are sent to the iPhone over Bluetooth, Wi-Fi is connected, Bluetooth is disconnected, and all subsequent CarPlay communication is over Wi-Fi. During the CarPlay session, all audio, including phone call audio and video, is transmitted over Wi-Fi as well as the control protocol. CarPlay requires a Wi-Fi certified AP, and 5 gigahertz is recommended. Note that high throughput, 25 megabits per second, is required.

The Bluetooth subsystem needs to support the communication protocol.

Nice! Just got the same one. Waiting for my dealer to deliver it.

I agree and I do as well, but I am new to San Diego County so I do not know any of the back roads. It's possible to get pretty lost here on the canyon roads in the mountains.

Congrats! I think it's the best minimum options to get. I do wish I had the rear no passenger seat cowl, I ordered it but it's on back order in Germany and there are about 35 orders for it in front of me. $300 with tax.

The dealer said definitely do not hold my breath waiting for it.

Yeah, that’s definitely annoying. I’m probably getting the cowl too at some point. As of now, I’m waiting for a just a radiator guard, and it’s also backordered.

They had the radiator guard in stock, I was lucky on that!
