I currently have a 07 gsxr 1k and can upshift without clutch no prob. To do this with the BMW do I have to add this option? Tried searchign but cant find any info about. Thanks for the help.

You can do clutchless upshifts on just about any modern sportbike. The difference with a "shift assist", such as on the BMW or those made by DynoJet, is that you can do full throttle upshifts instead of quickly cutting the gas. I had a quick shifter on my '05 GIX 1000, and it does make for much smoother upshifts without any loss in the "power band", so to speak. It's a personal preference whether or not to spend the extra $$$, but the
"shift assist" helps prevent any goofs or clashing of gears. I ordered my S1000 with one....Just my personal preference.

The BMW quick shifter is fecking awesome. I first had it on my HP2 sport, and now i wouldn't have a sports bike without it...full throttle clutchless up-shifts baby:D:D:D

Ride a bike with a quickshifter and you will soon realise that its one of the best mods for ÂŁ350

The BMW quickshifter is very good but i think my HM quickshifter on my R1 was better but to be truthful its was just really the shift pedal feel as opposed to the way it worked that made it feel better on my R1

In the history of time, the wheel was a good invention then they invented the shift assist!!

It is only in 2nd place in the history of inventions because without a wheel it would be useless.

The engine (3rd place) is quite a good invention but if you didnt have one you could still push your bike down a really big hill and then use the shift assist

The only thing I can think of to compare the shift assist to would be like driving a formula 1 car and up-shifting and feeling that surge of energy immediately transverse into the next gear without the slightest bit of deceleration. It's probably the closest thing to having a dual clutch transmission on a motorcycle.

Definitely not "needed", but most like it. As someone else said, it's a $460 gadget that seems to work well. To a person working at McD's, that's a full week (or more) of hard work which hardly seems a good deal. To a lawyer making an $500/hour, its probably a night's bar tab. So I'm not going to presume to make this value tradeoff for someone else.

I thought so. It was the main option I wanted. The rest were just incidental.

Snagging the next gear without lifting or clutch will be sweet on drag strip nights. Especially once the GP shift rearsets come in and it'll just be a quick downward snap on the shifter.

GET IT! I wasn't a believer until I rode with it. It is truly faster than you could ever imagine shifting without even moving the throttle or touching the clutch. ON a bike with out it you can power shift, yes, but you have to burp the throttle. The S1000's system is so smooth I like to joke if I were blind and deaf I wouldn't know if it shifted or not.
