Thanks for the link, yes I have tried using a clean formatted fat32 USB key in the logger, tried using the 2D software to format the USB key... The logger does not write anything to an empty clean formatted fat32 USB key. As soon as I plug the stick in the LED goes on hard and stays on for 5 seconds after I pull the stick, ignition on or off make no difference?
Nope, that's how the 2D Logger accept any USB stick:
- USB stick in computer
- start 2D software and choose your model
- put USB stick in logger, switch ignition on and wait until it starts blinking
- DONE

Now and only then the 2D logger knows what bike you have and what he can logggggg :nerd:

Another question, are you sure that you have logged data on the datalogger?

In other words, wire the datalogger, go for a short ride. Now put your correct usb stick (see previous reply). It should start blinking untill it is solid.
He chose 2014 model since he can't see his 2015 so that will never work until he chose the correct model after he try several updates.

Just rev over 2500rpm then logger starts recording and let bike run for a minute, that's enough..

Thank you both for the advice. Thanks to you I have made some progress.
I had some complexity issues - I downloaded the BMW Demo version of the Data Logger software to play, then installed the licensed version that came on the CD. (I was getting the prompt when doing updates, that no updates available, even though my install did not allow selection of the 2015 model year). I removed both installations and reinstalled the licensed copy.
I also ended up doing a full format (Not quick format) of the USB stick (The cruizer Sandisk that came with the logger) using Prep2DStick.
Then I used the BMW Logger software to write 2015 model file to the USB key.
I installed the logger into the chassis loom with the USB stick installed. Turned the key on, Blue LED came on, and within a minute, settled down to a regular blink, indicating the logger is ready.
I was getting ready to go to work, so I never attached the logger externally, I tucked the logger under the pillion seat and expected no GPS data.
So I'm at work with the software installed and up-to-date, go to import a data file from the USB key and there is none.
I must still be missing a piece of the puzzle?
I set the software to race mode for highest data resolution and set-up an import folder inside the BMW_HP_RaceData folder called import, and set the track type to "not a race track".
You can be sure I'm googling for an answer but I value your input way more!
Cheers!
Just do it again. Empty the logger (just delete the files, as long as it is Fat32 you are ok).
1) USB into the bike, ignition on, wait, iginition off, remove USB.
2) Put USB into computer, start 2D software, choose your model, remove USB again.
3) USB into the bike, ignition on, wait, iginition off, remove USB.

Put back USB, rev bike over 2500 or go for quick testride. Logger under the pillon seat or rear cover works flawless with GPS ....

Must admit I fogot the first step 1) too without that, the 2D software cant recognize the stick automatically.

Also it only works with your log Directory like C:\BMW_HP_RaceData\xxxxx
