I'm using the front end and forks from a S1000R to use on a dragbike i'm building and not sure if they will work.
So- i stripped the ddc unit and i didn't need to. I've refilled it with oil no idea if it should be full or how much to put in there or what grade, does anyone know?
Also, i don't want to use the DDC unit, if there is no power going to it does it not work at all or is it set at maximum damping? Is it possible to replace the internals of the DDC leg with those from another model? The forks don't really need to work as normal, they have been shortened to 50mm travel for a 400kg dragbike.
Any info would be appreciated.

Don't risk your life. Find some non-DDC forks or put Ohlins cartridges in the ones you have. The DDC is locked solid without the electronics, there is no damping in the right leg either.

Thanks for the info, Do you know if the non DDC internals fit in the stanchion?

I'll take the DDC unit apart again and make a valve if necessary, but would prefer an easy option!

Yes, you buy manual cartridges from Ohlins, Mupo or Andreani and they will fit into forks.

pretty sure you could look for a 12-14 RR left fork complete, the fork leg will fit the R, and the internals will be 'static'.

You should have started out with a set of 2010-2014 S1000RR forks. They are all non-DDC and will fit the R. Back then DDC forks only came on the HP4. You can fit an Ohlins cartridge kit, but they are different part numbers depending on the fork ( non-DDC or DDC). So you can still use what you have with a cartridge kit.
