It's a replacement for TA5 which also has its own protector.

According to Alpinestars it is the replacement for the Tech-Air Race

The Tech-Air 7X arrived on Saturday as scheduled.

Important note - When you get it the battery is not connected so you need to pull the back open and connect the batter - Simple - One plug and it only fits in one way.

Mine was about 75% charged but completed the remainder of the charge pretty quickly (I don't have a time because I wasn't paying attention).

Connected right up to the App - Firmware was already up to date - I changed it from Race to Street. The update was quick and flawless.

Road it on the street a few times and feels good. While it is ultimately longer in the back than the Race it seems less noticeable because it is thinner. I didn't pull my Race out of my leathers but the 7X does seem to be thiner in the back protector canister area.

Important for many - If you have larger biceps the arm WILL feel tight - I have some pencil arms and I can feel some squeeze.

The great news.... No issues at all, unlike the TA10 I had and returned.

This is a keeper - If anyone wants to purchase a used TA Race at a decent price let me know - I might order another 7X

TA race was the first one Alpine* released. Then TA 5, TA10, now TA7. TA7 replaces both TA5 & race. TA7 uses the same electronics TA5 uses BTW.

If my memory servers me correctly, the info I got from Aplinestars is they are keeping the TA 5, TA7X, and the TA 10 and it is a direct replacement for the Race

My Alp* vendor mentioned that only TA7, 10, 3 are staying. More options for offroad. From a marketing perspective I don't see the point of keeping TA5 & Race with TA7 & 10 around.

How is the ventilation (in 90+ street rides with a mesh/textile jacket), weight, and getting in/out of TA7? Any dislikes.

Right - They are not keeping the Race.
