Any details on updated M1000RR motor version?

About 2 months ago one of the rod bearings on my 2021 M1000RR decided to let go which took out the rest of the motor. I got a new one installed recently and could notice immediately that; the part number is different (11008103148 new vs. 11008358795 old), idle is smoother, and off-idle throttle response is better.

Now the question is, does anyone know what BMW actually changed on the new motor? I've heard rumors of an extra oil ring being added to the pistons and some changes to the shift-cam, but nothing confirmed yet.

Man I would love to know too…. @rusky what’s the story behind that did your bearings come apart or seize up? How long did it take to get a new motor?

Based on my discussions with the BMW techs, and also feedback directly from BMW, it looked as if my rod bearing exploded. They were very surprised that the bike even continued running after it happened.

It took about 2 months to get a new motor as BMW was completely out when I first brought the bike in. The motor that's currently in it came straight off the production line in Germany.
