I asked and the answer I got was the error can't be removed via the BMW computer or RCK2.

The first screen of the RCK2 specifically gives you the option to say the DDC has been removed.
I haven't done (may never do it), but according to the help in RCK2 by doing this you tell the ECU there is no DDC and I would expect no errors to be reported.
I have RaceECU + RCK2 so perhaps you need both, which would be a $$$ way to remove a code.

I believe @AndyHP4 reported the same in another thread. RCK2 would be good to have to remap TC and give the bike a "proper tune" with no piggyback. I can live with the error for now. Already have the race ecu.

Willie hasn't been in the service department for at least a year. He still knows more about these bikes than anyone in the bay area with the possible exception of Alex @ Fastline. He is Siglin's tuner. Willie probably hasn't used RCK2 since Simon sold his Super Legera Killer (not)

There are at least 3 options to remove DDC:
- over RCK
- over a ECU coding
- over a DDC replacement controller

So I ordered and tried fitting DDC replacement controller BMW HP4 but still gives same error, I contacted Alpha Germany and it seems I might have a faulty controller, so looks like I will need to ship it back.

Anyone else use it? Maybe Im doing something wrong

It is supposed to be plug and play. Mine didn't work either. I still have to take it off and send it back. :frown2:

@BMW_388 can turn off the error light. So can the dealer. You have to remove the DDC package in the build in the ECU.

The RCK removing of DDC does nothing for the error on dash.

I accidentally ordered a "15+ card 1st time around. Ordered the HP4 card 2 days later. Traded the '15 card to SJ BMW and it worked fine. I suspect Alpha had a bad batch of HP4 cards. Thanks for the info @the_gooch . At this point, if Alpha does not make good, I'll just live with the error. The bad card prevented me from being able to adjust traction control settings as well. Putting my stock card back in Thursday. Adjusting the traction control is more important than getting rid of the error.

@BMW_388 can turn off the error light. So can the dealer. You have to remove the DDC package in the build in the ECU.

I suspect this is true for '15+ S1000RRs as DDC was an option. The HP4 s only came with DDC. I'm guessing there is no "package" to turn off. But I will double check.

RE: The Alpha DDC controller cards, they seem to know there is an issue but wouldn't admit to it. They need and are waiting for an HP4 in their shop for testing. They didn't want me to return purchased card at this time.

My HP4 will be 5 years old 8/1. After 2 and 1/2 years of track days, 8 races and 2 crashes, it was looking rather pathetic. Since the last race, crash damage was repaired and new race fairings were installed. I was supposed to race this year with no mods as the next gen was supposed to be available in May. Once it became obvious that the new bike wouldn't be delivered till Sept. or October I figured I should at least upgrade to a billet MC because of a thread posted by @DrIoannis :

One thing led to another and I kinda sorta went overboard. I ended up with:

XA7G7G0 GP master cylinder
IMA Racing Thumb Brake
Brembo P2 84mm caliper optimized for an underslung mount
P4 32/36 XA7.G2.10/11 Front calipers
Used Alpha rear subframe
Alpha clutch cable- pull is so much smoother than stock. Willie picked it due to the routing improvements it made and space considerations. Extra smoothness is a bonus. Never would have thought of it.
Removed ABS pump and other cleanup work.

Thanks to @the_gooch for supplying all the trick brake components and Willie Hodgson at San Jose BMW for undertaking my project and turning it into a work of art.

We've had too much rain lately. I picked up the bike between storms. Took some quick pics in the shop. 12 in about 1 minute. A photographer I am not. I'll try to do the bike justice on the next sunny day.

Willie thought this was a one off project. Another customer walked in inquiring about a thumb brake due to mobility issues with his right foot. He sold an IMA kit because my bike was in the shop with the kit mostly installed. :laugh: Looking forward to my first track day of the year when the rain stops. Hoping the thumb brake helps on 6 corners on 2 different tracks. Can't wait to test the new components. :smile2:
