2023 S1000RR hard to find Neutral

Hi all!

I got my new 2023 s1000rr last month and rode for about 100 miles. The bike is absolutely great and it is so smooth on the road.

BUT, I noticed my bike is quite hard to find neutral while waiting for the traffic lights. When I turned my engine off and roll the bike on the ground, the neutral can be found though. But it's just kinda impossible to find neutral while waiting for the traffic lights or stopping with the engine on.

I know that the previous gen of RR has this problem, but has anyone with the new RR noticed this problem? Should I call the dealer or wait for the 1st service and see how it goes?

Thanks!

The dealer will tell you to break in and wear in process.

Also a fresh oil change makes all the difference in getting the break in oil out. I change the break in oil at 200 miles. Then I let first service change the oil again at 650. So getting the wear in and getting the floating particles out helps alot.

Cool! Thanks for the reply. Will wait for getting the break-in oil out

Check and ensure that you have enough and not too much clutch-lever play, sounds like you have a bit too much clutch-lever play or have clutch adjusted so that when pulled in it doesn't disengage the clutch packs as much.

Play around with the little wheel with numbers on it too and see where it starts grabbing.

Your bike will also be hard to roll in gear with clutch pulled in if this is the case.

Check clutch lever play and adjust cable.

I've owned several bikes where its difficult to find neutral so it might be perfectly normal on your new RR

Thank you for the detailed info! My bike is pretty easy to roll in gear with the clutch pulled in, but I do think the clutch-lever free play is a bit too much
The K67s in general to me are hard to find neutral on. It's been true for the MY 21, 22, and 23s that I have ridden on track. I also own a 22 and it's the same. It does require a bit of finesse as you really have to find that slight movement of the shifter to get it in. What I've found is if I can't get it into neutral from first, I'll go all the way to second and then it's usually easier to tap the shifter down with the finesse required to get neutral.

So spin the wheel and tighten the tension. When I got mine it was so loose the lever was flapping in the wind going down the road, obviously dealer missed this somehow.

I've noticed the same issue with neutral compared to my other bikes, the RR is a little finicky to find. I messed around with the level location with the adjustable rear sets (M version) and got a little improvement. However, I think it's the nature of the gearbox. The shifting, especially with the QS is easily the best I've ever tried. I wouldn't want to mess that up just for the neutral setting. Good luck!
