The season is upon us, figured I'd start this one too.
Looking forward to seeing Aprilia and how they do. Curious to see if Yamaha did anything to help Fabio and I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing a healthy MM93 this season.
I've never been a fan of aero on motorcycles, I think for the most part it's made them look ugly even though I understand the purpose. They don't look as bad on production bikes anymore, i guess they've grown on me but, this Aprilia "F1 style" wing...I get it, motoGP is the premier class, like F1 for cars...but this?? On bikes?? I hated the stegosaurus aero that they started using last season, I dislike this even more...

There was no way he was actually trying to pass Martin… his explanation seems very plausible…

I'm sorry, but I remain very skeptical of MM's motives. I watched his Amazon Prime documentary and in it he as much said that he goes out of his way to ride like the biggest a**hat on the track. I admire his skills, but not his tactics. I think he may have been trying to dive inside and push Martin aside then locked up the cold hard tire running into Martin and Oliviera. But I'll admit I'm prejudiced. I don't like him.

He had a similar lock up earlier in the first lap so..... maybe that's what it was??? Not saying he didn't try and drive bomb like he always does but...i saw something similar in the first lap, unless that was the contact with JM???
I think it was a lock up, born from exuberance. Wrong place to try to gain a few metre's. Martin and others take a shallow entry to defend...going even tighter is going to mean being on dirtier tarmac. Poor choice so early in the race...nothing more.

That corner is horrid because its slow and you have to sacrifice the exit for the T4 entry.

I think it was over Eager. The whole first stint he didn't look too in control.

Wasn't there an incident last season, when he (MM) t-boned a fellow rider, as he approached a turn too hot? He was trying to sneak in on the inside. At the time, it was considered a racing incident, although I remember the decision being a bit controversial. He also appeared to be very contrite and apologetic. The man is an incredible rider, but can't help think that either 1. there are times when he is excessively aggressive, or 2. his self-perceived abilities exceed his real abilities.

Idiotic move - once again.
Just read the latest Mat Oxley. Knew the Ducatis stopped and turned well. First time I've read why.

Two long laps penalties is not enough. He should be made start from the back of the grid for a couple of races for that move. Saw the race and it was just more of his careless and over-agressive riding.

Banning from the COTA round would hurt just enough. His one time fortress.

Love MM or hate him, a lot of folk watch motogp because of him. IMHO, Pecco is a very boring rider as is Quat. Nice gents, no doubt about it, but the only polarizing character that still remains on the paddock is MM. How many times have we all watched his saves? He is (again in my opinion)one of the toughest and most entertaining riders to grace motogp. It's hard to judge what happened on Sunday, could've been caused by a lockup or bad judgement, or a mistake - or all the above, but I've watched it from different angles and it does seem like he was forced to go for it knowing his bike's lack of capability. So again, love him or hate him, we all know what type of rider he is, hungry, talented, calculating, cold, and skilled beyond belief. I think he will learn from this, he's owned it, and all we can do is hope and wish all four riders a speedy recovery.

BTW, the sprint race was insane, my wife and I were both glued to the screen, I hate it and love it. Riders are becoming more and more dispensable unfortunately.

I don't hate MM. As I've said before, his talents are other-worldly. I must admit I did enjoy his duel with Pecco at Aragon a couple of years ago. THAT was amazing riding by both riders. But I do hate how accepting Dorna has become of his overly-aggressive tactics. For what? The sake of the show? See what the other riders say about his actions. They KNOW how he rides. Now he AND Oliviera are going to miss a race. I can only hope he doesn't try something as stupid in a high-speed corner. IMO, his "owning it" is lip service. Pure and simple. I think "hungry, talented, calculating, cold, and skilled beyond belief" can be used to describe most of the top-level riders. The difference is (again IMO) that MM doesn't accept the limitations of the Honda and tries to ride around them. Is that what a "champion" does? Not when it repeatedly endangers others. If he'd had enough sense (or better advice) to switch to Ducati as did his brother, he wouldn't need to try the banzai passes or qualifying games.

I'm going to have to pry open my wallet and spring for a MotoGP subscription. As others predicted, NBC isn't covering the sprints. That's the last straw for me. I miss the Moto3 "kids" riding in those admittedly-dangerous packs. And I liked Moto2 as well.

Starting from the back will only make him ride more aggressively to catch up! We have seen that in the past

He's overriding cause Honda gave him a bag of spanners to ride. He should never have even been P.5...

Hat off and face palm at the same time

I'm still on the fence man... ugh....
Crazy race in the wet. Disappointed Alex Marquez dropped to third but what a run by Bezzechi, and what a ride by Zarco! Sucked watching Pecco tuck it...
Sprint Race was mental. Brad was awesome but lucky Bez got caught up in an early dogfight. Bez was on fire all weekend, hat off to him. Marini just looks average, filling a seat, I'd rather see Morbidelli on his bike (VR46 Academy) and Toprak on the 2nd M1. If Alex M can jump on a Duc and come 3rd, you'd have to imagine Marc would just clean up and crash less cause he would be less desperate.

Vinales did well in the sprint with only one wing in the sprint...but he got his move on Binder wrong in the main race. The way the Aprilia's fell apart in the wet was eye opening.

Fabio's going to have a **** year.

This.
Honda must be paying him a butt load of cash. Or his contract is so iron-clad that he can't get out of it.

He is paid an obscene amount of money. But probably less than F1 counterparts.
Repsol more than Honda are pulling the strings. If you drive through Spain Marc is everywhere with Repsol (gas stations etc)

If Repsol dumped Honda that would probably be the end of Marc/Honda.

Interesting article on Ducati-tech, though I think I've seen it previously elsewhere.
