Hey guys new to the S1000RR world but def not new. I thought the 2022 M package included the lithium ion lightweight battery. I’m pretty sure at over 3 pounds this is a regular lead acid battery. Plus there’s no indication it’s a Lio-battery on the data sticker…. am I wrong?

My 2022 M package came with that same battery. I brought it up with my dealer, and they confirmed with my VIN that it should have come with the lightweight M battery installed. They swapped it out for the correct one. I suggest you bring it back to your dealer and have them do the same.

Yes, <= MY 2022 the M Battery was only part of the M Package.
This is not true. Even in 2020 you could order a K67 with the M Battery option 053B on any color and model. The reason was for racing application the lightweight battery was considered a good option. This is an example of a 2020 ordered bike in Canada.

Doesn't the correct battery come with the bike in a kit? Sounds like they tried to swipe for resale. Triumph tried that with my rear solo seat cover. As soon as I mentioned contacting Triumph USA to re-order missing hardware, my solo pillion cover was "found" in a box with several others minutes later. My name was still ziptied to the damn thing.

Everything is installed in the bike from the factory. The dealers only have to connect the cables to the battery. It possible that the build was affected by chip/parts shortage and the base style battery was put in there. However, the dealer should have been fully aware of this issue and noted to the buyer the correct battery would be installed at a later date no charge to the buyer.

I haven’t definitely been part of and seen when a dealer pulls something from one bike to throw on another. Then forgets to fix what was pulled.
There was lately a shortage on M batteries - wouldn't be surprised if some dealers either pulled batteries or the factory shipped some with the old battery when they were out of stock.

im gonna feel weird checking for the li battery at the dealer haha
Don't be. You can also be very subtle about it. Ask to see how to take off the pillion seat and rider's seat. Then take a quick peak to see if you have the Li battery. You paid for it. Might as well get it. To be honest, I would be surprised if the dealer is swapping out batteries. Not saying it does not happen, but they have bigger fish to fry. Not to mention it messes with their books.

My previous bike had no battery because the dealer took it for another bike. They said they would order another but one guy was like no, place the order, pull another battery and when we get the order in out it in the bike we pulled from. But my bike just recently got delivered so I expect it should still be in there.

Far as I know all RR's are assembled in Germany. It does not mean all of its components are also made in Germany. Components could be from anywhere in the world. Here is a quote:

"With the exception of the G310 series (which is produced at TVS's Tamil Nadu, India plant[4][5]), all BMW Motorrad's motorcycle production takes place at its plant in Berlin, Germany.[6] Some engines are manufactured in Austria, China, and Taiwan." - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_Motorrad

Assembly plant in Manaus, Brazil.

As early as 2009, BMW Motorrad commissioned Dafra Motos in Manaus with assembling BMW motorcycles for the local market. In 2016, BMW Motorrad took over the plant and has since been building several of its motorcycles there
based on CKD kits shipped from the Berlin plant. At two million inhabitants, Manaus is the capital of the state of Amazonas and has been in a free trade zone (Zona Franca) since 1957. Nine different models for the Brazilian market are now being manufactured at a plant with a floor space of around 8,000 square meters. These include the BMW R 1250 GS, R 1250 GS Adventure, our S 1000 RR super sports bike, and the G 310 R in the 500 cc segment. After production, the motorcycles are taken to the distribution center in Sao Paulo and from there are delivered to customers.

Thanks for the update. In all my years never heard of BMW having a facility in Brazil. Live and learn. : )
