You got lucky, it seemed maybe 100ft out. When I was younger the lightning struck the palm tree right above us! That might account for why.....er....nevermind..... Oh, and we had a rider here in CO from the local sportbike club that got hit in the helmet when he was riding home! Knocked him out cold, gave him a few burns, and he broke some bones when he rode off into a ditch at maybe 75mph, still unconscious. He woke up in the intensive care ward, but considering, he got really lucky, both with the initial lightning strike, and the crash. A few years ago we had a Hardley guy a friend of mine knows who got hit in the head riding and it killed him instantly.
