New to the forum and researching a possible purchase. I'm looking at used 2015 series S1000RR models. I may be picking one up this fall.

I'm really looking to read the forums and find out any common issues and see if the motorcycle can be fully serviced on my own or if there is dealer specific maintenance that I can't get around due to specialized scan tools. I'm handy with a wrench, have worked in automotive repair in the past and have been doing all my own maintenance. The catch is that I've only owned Japanese bikes for the past few decades with the exception of a Triumph that got taken away from me by a Buick Century after only 31 days of ownership back in 2016.

Welcome to the forum mate and congratulations on if and when you get your S1000RR.

There certainly is a wealth of information here. It would probably take half a lifetime to get through it all.

As with any bike manufacture, there are specialised tools required to do various servicing aspects. Always use the right tool for the right job.

For your first purchase, I'd recommend getting the GS-911 diagnostic tool. This is an indispensable tool that will help you with most of the diagnostics work you will probably come across. Have a look over at:

Not sure where you are located, but www.motomillion.com is a good place to grab one. I think you can still use the forum discount code 650ib. @MotoMillion will be able to sort you out either way.

Just remember...

It doesn't matter if it's torqued to spec or cross threaded. Tight is tight!!
