2020 - another recall - oil leak

Another recall for S1k produced September to March. Inappropriate oil cooler design could cause hoses to fall off

https://motorcycles.news/en/recall-bmw-s-1000-rr/

-----------
BMW calls the new S 1000 RR back to the workshops. Affected are vehicles manufactured between September 2018 and March 2019.

Recall: BMW S 1000 RR
The oil cooler supply and return lines were molded incorrectly, which could cause the oil hose to separate from the fitting.

As a result, oil could escape, increasing the risk of accidents or fires.

Type-approval number: e1 * 168/2013 * 00091; type: 2R99

BMW recall code: 0000170500

The build date is next to the VIN on the frame. Or call your dealer with your VIN number, they can tell you.

This has already been dealt with as far as I know. Was very early production. It was to do with the oil cooler line fittings not being crimped to a wide enough measurement. None were found to be faulty anyway.

As far as I know, none of the affected bikes ever entered the USA.

It has resurfaced now. Replacement of oil cooler for nearly all bikes. Can't remember production dates.

Yup, there are two oil cooler recalls at German KBA the equivalent of our NHTSA. The one from September has to do with the oil cooler manufacturing not to spec the second in October with cracks forming at the attachment sites for the oil cooler hoses I believe.

There is one official US recall online.
