2020 s1000rr fuel tank capacity

According to bmw's website our fuel tank capacity is 4.4 gal. I have consistently been filling my bike from empty only with 3.3 gal.

Originally I thought the fuel sending unit was bad.

I took the bike to the dealer and they confirmed yes the tank only holds 3.3 gal.

What is everyone else's fuel tank capacity?

Yes same for me. I put gas for the first time on my 2020 and maxed at around 3 gal. It was on the tip already too. I remember reading the bike had 4.4.

Is that how BMW narrowed the bike?

Look at the bright side, you are saving yourself the extra weight of the 1.1 gallon of gas 😊

Got to be another reason...BMW would be open to major liability if they advertised one spec and delivered another. Like VW did.

Surely they can't be that avaricious?

I have a '15 and it's listed as 4.4 US Gallon if I recall, and I know they said the new tank was a bit smaller, but 1 gal smaller? That's a lot, and SERIOUSLY restricts the range, to, like, nothing. Sounds like they made a mistake and forgot to revise the website.

They're going to warranty it? How, by giving you a previous gen tank???

The fuel reserve will keep about .5g or so that you're missing.

If you wanna know the exact capacity. Let the bike run till the tank is empty. Then see how much you fill.

The dealership drained the tank and ran the bike until it shut off. They confirmed themselves that the tank capacity is 3.3 gal.

How they'll handle this? Who knows, this is all new to me.
