If you black plastics, they would already be in the mail.

I found one yesterday, sitting on the floor in Prosser, WA. Just have to go pick it up in a week or two

First Impressions

So I have to say... This bike is amazing. Mind you, I only put 70 miles on it...

  • Ergonomics and Controls
But the bike does feel lighter. The controls do take a bit to get used to coming from a previous model. Being 5'7", the ergonomics feel better than my '13 and I think that I like the higher positioning of the bars. The display is easily readable in daylight and is beautiful! The simple displays take a lot of the clutter out. I did put a glass screen protector on that I got from eBay for like $20. There is an engine temp gauge on a bike status page that also tells you the battery voltage. You can scroll through multiple pieces of status info, surprisingly you kinda have to hunt for the engine temp, but that's nothing but a software update to fix that if they do. I did notice that shifting into neutral was a bit hard but became easier as time went on. Slight vibration was in the mirrors but not annoying for a sportbike. The clutch release is further out than I really prefer, so I'll try to adjust that. There was a noticeable buzz in the handlebars. I got clutch and brake guards that are heavier than stock bar ends. Hopefully, that will take care of it. The seat isn't bad, I know the //M owners have been complaining about their hard seat but so far the stock (non //M seat) is cool, reminds me of the previous. You can switch between GP shift and standard shift out the box no extra parts required. The bike feels a tad bit taller than my '13, not ideal, but I can work with it, I may get the seat shaved. Taking off the fender is definitely not as simple as they make it out, but It's not overly hard once you get the hang of it.

  • Engine and Handling
The bike definitely feels lighter and quicker. I'm liking the brakes. By no means are they slouches. I do prefer HH pads so we'll see about longterm feel. They are powerful and very progressive. It was hot as hell Saturday and I really felt that heat at stoplights. The bike did have a couple of difficult starts and cut out a couple of times, but my R1 was the same way when I first got it. There isn't a noticeable driveline lash that I felt in my old bike, I'll chalk that up to it being brand new. I can't give a real review of the engine until they take off the restrictions. But I can tell you I definitely felt that 2nd and 3rd gear lag, mostly because I was looking for it. Is what it is, there is a fix for that. My bike came with Metzler Racetecs. Haven't dug into them, so I have no opinion yet.

So that was my first impression of her. The bike is fully loaded and I look forward to breaking her in and setting it up right.
