Europe was slightly ahead of USA with the release of the 2015, so I would expect Europe to see the 2020 maybe even as a 2019 release product. BMW has not put a year model label on the new bike anywhere I can find. USA already has a 2019 S1000RR so for sure, the new release is a 2020 model as per information by a local dealer.
BMW have sent a memo to UK dealers (I assume that the rest of Europe will be the same) stating that the release date will be 1st June 2019. I have been told this by 2 separate dealers.

BMW's UK website lists the new bike as the "S1000RR 2019".

There is no real official release information that there is only 2 colors available right now, but, with all the pictures on BMW motorrad website, it sure looks like only two options on first release.
BMW's UK website has shows all the options and prices (for the UK). Colours are red for the base model and the Sport model, and motorsports colours for the M package.

Can't wait for the Chicago show next weekend to see it in person

Thanks for sharing that link. It would be nice if they change the delivery date to June here in the states.

I am debating if the M will be really worth the extra bucks for street riding. The sport model has everything that the current 2018 premium model has. It seem ike the only difference are the carbon wheels, battery, seat, and slide control, vs the sport model.

What's the take on that?

Dude, I'd have to go all in. Buy once, cry once! You are totally correct about the differences though, at least as far as I've read, but those carbon wheels ! I'm partial to the Motorsport paint scheme, too. Can't you tell!

Just did my first track day with the 18,,, I like it a lot, short 2.4 mile track. I might convert the 18 to track only and get the 2020 for street or vs versa

had ideas about getting a 19 R6 for the two short tracks here in tx but putting that on hold now.

If you got the $ why not? I doubt you'll ever look at those carbon wheels and regret buying them.

Having said that you don't need the M on the street. In fact I'd be pretty happy with a Ninja 400 as long as I was riding something.
