What do you mean step up their game. The 2015 RR is the fastest of the current crop

2014 HP4 ?'s

The HP4 is a Limited Edition BMW put out over 2 years. The standard HP4/S doesn't have all the carbon fiber, nor forged wheels nor the super expensive HP Gilles Rearsets and levers, whereas the HP4/C does. It was the lightest and fastest bike ever made by BMW and at the time the fastest production motorcycle in the world. They both have the Akrapovic Full Titanium Exhaust.

However with that said yes Kawasaki came out with the H2 which will not outrun the BMW, now the race version the H2R which only 500 were produced has the supercharger. Either model is a dog to ride and harder to steer, most certainly can't keep up with anything on the track because of its sheer weight. Now in a straight line the H2R is a beast but still needs open road to surpass the Beemer. Unless you start from a 60 mph rolling start. Yes I've ridden it and can attest to these statements.

The 2015 S1000RR is basically a production model of everything BMW learned from the HP4 and made ever so slight improvements just without $15,000 worth of add ons. Which we all can attest that once you get started you can't stop, because when you personally feel the bike reflects your style and taste you start with more gear and the track.

I own a 2014 HP4/C with about 800 miles on her and I wouldn't sell mine, even for $23K. I enjoy her that much.

The R1 is no match for the Beemer but the R1M is a fantastic track machine. Not a great or even good everyday driver but a weapon at the track. They hate being in town with traffic, horrible below 4K RPM's, almost stall from a light and have the worst seat ever. It sounds outstanding and has the best electronics but the motor is still not on par with BMW.

Overall I'm fortunate enough to have ridden these bikes and I still chose the BMW. But the only decision that matters is what you like and prefer. So ride them all if you can and make an informed decision on what suites you best.

^^^Agree. Lot of people make this mistake because of the color. Also, many Comp owners swap out levers and rearsets.

H2 isn't supercharged? I don't think this is the case.

My apologies, you are correct both the H2 and the H2R are supercharged. I was thinking ahead to the R1.

They both still suck and ride like ****. And neither one can touch any liter bike at the track or in town. I'm not a fan of either one but do like the ZX-10.

But everything is relative to the pilot.

On the track, yes. In town? The h2 stands up and the h2r really wouldn't be in town.

I don't disagree with much of your commentary Bullet but it may be fair to point out the 70 pound difference (IIRC) in rider weights in this "battle". Also noteworthy is the use of race fuel. The only modification of note on the H2 here is a flash which essentially eliminates restrictions. The nice thing about the BMW S1000RR Platform is the lack of restrictions from the factory that truly require a flash. For what it's worth, the ZX10 is similarly restricted from the factory and an ECU flash produces huge gains (relatively speaking). Regardless of what one thinks of BrenTune, et al....they are not producing the percentage of horsepower gains you can achieve with a simple $75 flash on the ZX10.

The reason is simple...the S1000RR is truly not restricted like the Kawi bikes are. Maybe this adds to the discussion, maybe not.

Last....I was about to pull the trigger on the preorder last December and at the last minute pulled out. I am so glad I did and not because of what the H2 is or isn't. Just simply very pleased with the HP4

While it is true rider weight vs horsepower makes a difference, no one I believe is cowardly enough to use it as an excuse when racing. As there are no excuses in racing. You either won or you didn't.

You are very on point with restrictions, especially comparing BMW to Kawasaki. Ultimately it's the reason why people do it in the first place. To let her breathe and run like a bat outta hell.

I for one am glad you didn't pull the trigger on the H2. As a BMW owner, now on my 4th BMW (2012 Fire Blue, 2013 Racing Red, 2014 Racing Red, 2014 HP4/C) I personally approve and believe in my mind you made the right decision. But then again, that is relative to the pilot. As long as you are happy, that is ultimately all that really matters.
