Default akrapovic header from evoluzione cyclesports

as many of you that purchased slip-ons have found, there is no real power benefit. unfortunately there has been no easy way to upgrade your slip-on until now. we worked out a special program with akrapovic to offer their full header system that will bolt right up to your aftermarket slip-on (or even the factory muffler).

the price for this full stainless steel header is $950 (or $990 if you want the special o2 sensor adapters to fit the factory o2 sensors). delivery should be early september.

If I was a dick, I'd dredge up all the posts where people said the sale of individual Akrapovic parts wouldn't happen and generally looked down their nose at me for even bringing up the idea.

But yet here it is. I'm like an exhaust prophet.

But I wasn't expecting this to be sprung on me right now. Buying this interferes with my plans for the 951 (that I impulse bought because I decided I wouldn't spend stupid money on the bike, haha). Decisions, decisions...

P.S. I'd absolutely bring the posts back up and call everyone out one by one, but I just got home from work and I'm starving.

Do you know if the TecBike underbelly pan is compatible with this set up? It's hiding my Cat as we speak. Thanks!

i don't know as i've never seen that bellypan in person. but, i would be suprised if it didn't work as that would mean it probably wouldn't work with most aftermarket full systems.

Yeah, it's not a belly pan per say, it's more an add on to hide the ugly cat. So
I'm not sure it would allow for the akra pipe.

Anyone have an idea?

Thanks,

b

sorry to be so negative on this, but when I first started looking at exhaust options, I too asked nearly everyone including Akrapovic's headquarters in Slovenia if I could just get the header and link pipes. Nope.

But with a long can full system around $100 more, and a short can full system $250 more (complete kits), pricewise it makes no sense whatsoever.

Basically, the only market I see for it is for people who already own the slip on. With this thousand dollar pipe kit, those people will end up with a shorty full system that cost them over two grand all told, while those who buy full kits all at once do so for $1300 or less.

Math doesn't immediately work out either; a slip on by itself is up to $1000. A full kit being $1300, it implies that the majority of the cost is in the titanium can and the pipes are basically $300-400 worth of piping.

$990 just doesn't make any sense to me; I'd never pay that much when complete systems cost just a couple hundred more.

i guess that's the nice thing about choices. if we didn't make the effort to put this together then no one would have a choice of upgrading.

i would also guess that you've never had to buy parts to repair a system. as with most manfacturers, kit prices are discounted with regards to the individual parts. as an example, just the o2 sensor adapter plugs from akrapovic are $60.

if what you want is a long can akrapovic system, then there is no reason to buy just the header. but, if you have the factory bmw/akrapovic slip-on (which a lot of customers bought) you can now upgrade to a full system. we also have a customer that really likes the look of the remus hypercone but remus does not offer it as a full system. with this header he can now have the looks and performance.

That is absolutely true, and it's not just Akrapovic owners but any slip-on can now be run as a full system. Choice is good.

Truth be told though, one option I was seriously co sidering was buying the full shorty system, then selling the can. Would have ended up with the same setup (able to take any slip-on) but at far less cost.

But if I owned a mere slip-on then yes, this does give the option of upgrading. I guess I was merely pointing out that buying bits in "stages" tend to end up for more than they would have had they gone whole hog from the getgo.

I wonder who'll be th first to "create" a full Yoshimura exhaust with these pipes...
