Default how good is the stock tires on the Track

Hello everyone, I recently got a s1000rr and just got my first service done so I was thinking about tracking the bike and I`m not sure if I should use the stock tires or not, after all they only have 650 miles on it, any one out there tracked this tires yet?
JR.

That's a loaded question......

What group do you plan to run?

Unless you're pushing the advanced group, you're probably fine. I wouldn't run stock pressures though! Mid-intermediate pack would be fine.

Have you been to the track before, if so, as AJ asked, what group?

I completed four track days (intermediate group each time) this past summer and the stock Metzeler K3s held up just fine. Air temps ranged from 70 to 85 deg F, cold tire pressures 31 psi for the front and 30 psi for the rear. Been told by the instructors that I run smooth laps so I'm not putting too much stress on the tires, I'm also on the light side, about 150 to 155 lbs in full gear.

If you're running K3s you should be OK if you're not really pushing the bike too hard. Definitely would upgrade to a DOT race tire though if you will be pushing the bike at an advanced group level speed.

I would deff be on the novice group, I have done all 4 levels of the California Superbike school on the same bike so is safe to say that I have some idea of what to do but I'll start on level 1 for sure after all now is my bike !!!!

In that case you should be fine with the stock Metzeler Racetec K3 tires adjusted for correct track day pressure per above post. The Metzelers are awesome tires.

Which tires did your bike come with, there are at least 3 different brands offered.
