Insurance
Am I the only person out there whose insurance doesn't cover track days at all? Even though I'm not competing or racing they said that they won't cover me. :-/ Dairyland Insurance by the way...
To add insult to injury I have already paid the year off, I'm 5 months into the policy and they tell me no refunds if I cancel because I signed a 12 month contract.

If you dump the bike don't tell them it was on a track day. Put what's left of your bike in a box and then call your insurance and tell them you hit a live moving animal. Now you are covered as a comprehensive collision doesn't count vs you. Besides it's your story tell it like you like. Just my two cents.

Minus the insurance fraud, that's not a bad way to go
You can try Geico... they seem to cover track days.
This topic is always controversial as to whether or not you should be covered. There are some good arguments against it (increased risk) and good ones (better rider for doing it = safer on the street) for it.
I took my S1 to the track a couple times, but then decided not to chance it (State Farm where I'm at doesn't cover Track Days). So I ended up buying a couple dedicated race bikes. I could literally buy about 5 of these race bikes for what I have in my one S1. And in hind sight, it was good that I did that... in a practice round before a race, I flipped my bike - end over end, due to someone else's wrong doing... but that's part of the game, I just came out on the loosing end of that deal. Was able to safety wire the crap out of it and still make my races that day, but if it had been my S1, I would have been very sad. Instead, I was fine w/the whole thing and reaffirmed to myself that if you're gonna take a bike to the track, you should be prepared to have it go home in pieces (hopefully not... but still be willing to accept it!).

Its the same here in the UK
No insurer will include cover for track days (but we can buy one-off trackday cover costing $$$$$).
The only exception to this rule is with BMW insurance.
But they will only cover a track day, if it is organised and run by BMW UK Central.

One of my friends over here had Geiko cover his gixxer 750 at Roebling Raceway in Savannah, Georgia since he wasn't competing. Maybe I've found my new insurance company!

Just a side note here,
I have always had full coverage on my bikes with extra this and extra that.
When I got this bike I went over everything again and found out I was NOT covered if I hit a LIVE animal. WTF?
I was covered for everything you can think of except that. Obviously I changed it but it might be something to look in to if you are going with that answer.

official word from Geico Virginia insurance underwriters... California Super Bike School is covered!
The rep said that she thinks that a regular track day would be covered too but to call and ask someone to verify it with the underwriters on a case by case basis just to be sure.
