Well so far I have over 700 track miles, back to back two day events help a lot. I know that’s not a lot compared to some guys here, but more that I had. Just wanted to give a few observations. The bike has a little over 750 street miles, that’s exactly 600 to see the dealer to remove the limiter and then 150 mile trip back home, then the rest have been at VIR.
Tires; the Conti 3’s are great (for my skill level) red group TPM. I run them at 29 rear hot and 30 – 31 hot front. Have had no issues other than a few slips now and then due to surface changes and seams.
Suspension; still stock BUT I have the Ohlin drop in 105 springs to better match my body weight. WHY? Because in turn 17A (hog pen) the bike bottoms out completely, which is not good, also does not allow me to use much throttle exiting 17 going to 17A. BUT, I knew that already, the bike is designed for a 168lb jockey. That will get fixed at VIR ion the 15th by an ex Ohlins suspension guy. I think I have the limited talent now to recognize the suspension change, before I did not.
Brakes; WOW, WOW, WOW I have the OEM pads and they are DONE. BUT, they were awesome. Coming out of the kink at VIR braking into T1, they are FREAKING AWESOME! Took, some time to get comfortable with them, but WOW. I can say that the more knowledgeable I become, they do upset the suspension a little, because of the initial bite. But once I got comfortable with the back tire rising a little and the bike wiggling around a little, they are incredible. I was going to go with the OEM pads again, but I went with the Carbone Lorraine C59’s. Brakes lasted 6 track days, they may pass tech again, but why take the chance, I value my skin too much.
Other Stuff; the freaking lap timer is complicated for me. Also, when you remove the headlight fuses the timer does not work. Ordered 90 degree valve stems, burnt my hands too many times on the front rotor trying to check pressure. Leather is HOT!
Awesome bike!
