Default Scared To Ride....

So i have 857 miles on the OEM tires, and i keep reading that when i get to tech they want to see at least 80% Tread. So, now I’m scared to keep riding until the track day cause i don’t want to get kicked back????

Gotta hop back on the Busa (which feels TOTALLY FREAKING different) sad face until the 23rd.

I should order a set of pures just in case i cant resist?

Not the case at our local track, but they may be a bit relaxed, don't know.

My recommendation would be to buy another set of tires, maybe some Q2's... throw em in the trailer/truck w/you (unmounted). Go through tech and see if your current tread flies. If not, utilize the trackside vendor and have him switch your tires out. The other thing to do is argue that you have 80% plus tread left on the corners/outer 1/3rd (which you likely do). On the track, you'll usually wear out the sides before the center... whereas on the street you'll likely wear out the center before the sides.

Unless you are just tearing into the tires, I can't see them complaining about your tread.

But, like said above, you have a couple options. Buy a spare rear or find out if the track day also includes tire support. Worst case scenario, you buy a tire there if required.

My experience is that specs like 80% are not enforced rigidly and are there basically there to scare people away from coming to an event with seriously worn tires. I've never seen a tech inspection actually use a depth gauge - they just eyeball it. As has been said, unless you've been absolutely going crazy in the first 800-miles, I can't see how you would have enough wear to fail.
