Trailers to trackdays...
Just wanted to run this by the members, do any of you use a Drop Tail Trailer for transport ?
My local bike shop got their flyers, and no one yet has purchased one of these. I am looking for feedback, if it exists on how good or bad these things are. Need a trailer for two bikes for track day this summer.
See thumbnail below, the 2 bike model retails for 2850 $ US currency.
They are located:
11500 South Pipeline Rd
Euless, Texas 76040
Check out their video, about 8 minutes... The upside, light weight, 660 lbs, trailer folders up for easy storage, the downside, not enclosed, a bit pricey at 2850 $ and no electric hydraulics (hand pumped), for another 400 or 500 bucks and you can get an enclosed trailer, but they weigh over 1500 lbs.
Advice ? What do you use ? (Not applicable outside of the US)
Thanks...
Rhody...

Have you checked into Kendon trailers? They are a fold up trailer as well. The double wide are $2400 in Canada, so they should be cheaper in the States. As a side note, they are very well made and very easy to store.

Kendon trailer all the way, I am on my second one, dual rail, works great.
Lightweight, folds up for storage, look great, little to no effect of mpg

I usually ride mine to where ever, but whenever I've needed a trailer, I'll go to the local U-haul and rent one for $14 per day. They have a small motorcycle specific one, but I usually just grab a 5x9 foot drop tail (ramp) trailer as it rated for higher speeds (larger tires and loading I guess?). No storage, insurance, or licensing issues either. Costs more if you go one way though than round trip.

Mack,
Thanks, people here where I work claim U-Haul doesn't rent a trailer like you describe. I will investigate, thanks... Part of me really wants an enclosed one, because I can store bikes and all bike gear in the winter, freeing up room in my garage.

Several years ago, I picked up a used singel axle 7x12 cargo with a 6 ft inside height that was setup for 2 drag bikes. The extra inside height allows me to work on my bikes and even have camped at the track. Paid $1000, well less than 1/2 of the orginal price. I tow it with my Dakota pickup with ease.

If you have the space to store it and a good enough vehicle to tow it... go with an enclosed. Storage, out of the weather, no road grime, etc. If you don't have room either of the above options look good!
