26/8/10 Woke up 5.30am, pi**ing down with rain...

Oh great i thought, 1st chance to wring its neck down the drain, if it even looks like rain i dont go out. I ride to enjoy it, i dont need to ride in the rain, i have 4 wheels for that. Anyway, 1'd already paid £200 and the krout was loaded on the borrowed trailer night before so decided to throw my gear in the car and set off in case weather decided to clear. Arrived at track, was welcomed by Park Lane BMW dealer (although i didnt buy from them, BIG mistake) and guided into one of their reserved pit garages. They had the Vari-trac superstock race bikes there also having a shake down. Signed on, as it happens i threw a
pr of wet tyres in the car i was 'looking after' for a mate so took the wheels out and shoved em in the direction of the resident tyre wagon. Missed the 1st session as was last in the queue for tyre change, hard to believe but i was strangely pleased not to go out especially as a couple of bikes lowsided and came back in the van......

There i am, sitting in line waiting to join from pit lane thinking "what the f**k am i doing here"? wondering if its the rain inside my leathers or the panic creeping into my loins

. We were let out with signs saying, three laps warm up tyres... 3Laps? thats 6.6 miles! Back in, soaked but more from sweat than rain, just relieved i made it through staying upright as another bike went down. Rain slowed/stopped and a dry line started to appear, next time out picked up the/my pace and started to enjoy it concentrating on being as smooth as possible in sport mode. By my 4th session i realised that wet tyres(my first experience) are soooooo grippy! By the last session, dry with damp patches, (track not me) confidence was high and felt so comfortable it was worrying

Thought dtc was playing up, kept flickering when out of a bend on the straight, realised in pits, rear tyre was melting. 1st for me!!
Big thankyou to Ricks Park Lane team for hospitality, loan of tools and suspension advice, made my day.
All those that binned their bikes, hope you all ok and in 1 piece.
Upside... Stayed upright , didnt let me down and GOES LIKE F**K !!!!!!!!!
Downside... Not happy with shifter/box. Missed a few gears, worrying in middle of bend when you want drive......
