99% I'll make it to Barber this time in Nov assuming my friends don't bail out like they did in Oct.
Almost booked jennings in Dec, but 3 people told me I'm gonna hate that track for its lack of elevation and layout. They did recommend Barber though. It would be nice to do a track day in Dec but not sure if it will be worth the eight hour drive. Unless of course skapan would pick me up on his way. Always up for some Canadian folks company
I am fortunate that most of the tracks I go to have great elevation changes and layouts.
I'm going to Jennings December 3,4,and 5. Never been and yes it looks relatively flat - but here is my answer to it's not a great track(by the way skapan has been there many times and likes it) it is way better than my bike sitting in the garage and me looking at snow.
And it is a 20 hour ride for me to get there.
Sure folks that live in the warmer climates and have tracks close to them can pick and choose which ones are better - I can do that as well in the summer not in the winter.
Is it the distance, more than it being flat? I'm asking because NCBIKE is just about as flat as flat can be. Someone correct me, but I thought Jennings was designed as a motorcycle specific track, and with that alone in mind, would be worth the drive. Why would some Northeasterners and Canadians drive all that way???
:wink2:
Everyone is different, I like a mix of elevation and technical. VIR is good (north or patriot), Laguna and Thunderhill in Calif.
NCBike is my least favorite track ever, it sucks, but it's only 75min from me, I just get up at 5:30am and go there. It's good for practicing body positioning, and better than riding on the street. Yes, I don't wanna drive for 8 hours for a so-so track. But I guess I'll never know unless I try it.
NCBike is all flat, I only go there because it's close and some of racer/coaches I know go there. I have learned new things there. THE only good thing about it it has a decent amount of left vs right corners. Unlike VIR where it's a right-oriented track.
Yes not very much at all, that's in Counter clockwise circulation. I've only gone clockwise, and it's a braking zone, before turning 180 onto the straight, so it's not as noticeable.
It was good meeting kruizen. It was such a great day. Zero flags in advanced, other groups had many red flags. I think advanced is the safest to be in, although sometimes you get "THAT" crazy guy. Last week one guy on a supermoto was trying to pass me on the inside, his handlebar nicked my tail. A coach saw it, he was suspended for a session. Glad I kept my cool and kept shiny side up.
Hopefully to see some other members at VIR next week.
