Thought you might enjoy some track day video of some S1K's at Laguna Seca. That's me riding the camera bike (2012 S1K) and Fast4d following me on his 2012 S1K.
This was from a recent track day with Keigwins @ The Track. Great group of people, weather was AMAZING and just an all around great time. Only my 2nd time on track on a bike so wes signed up for their B- group. Keigwins runs an A, B+ and B- group based more on expected lap times than experience. They expect riders with them to have decent experience. We will move to B+ for any future events with them.
Yes, the S1K is shear nirvana on a track. Initially I worried about tossing it away, but with a bike like this, on a track like this, those worries soon disappear. I was running Bridgestone S20's and this was their 2nd track day as well as a good bit of canyon use. They are toast, new tires are already on their way from American Moto Tire. $248 shipped, front and rear, too good a deal!
Keigwins requires "stock exhausts" or aftermarket with Jay Murray inserts due to LSIR's 92db sound limit. I had my full stock exhaust on and still got meatballed for a 95.2db fly-by past their sound station. You'll notice that I short shift going uphill between 5 & 6, that's why. You get three strikes, I had already gotten one and didn't want to chance it.
Ya, I know the leathers look lame with that duct tape on them, damn zipper decided a week earlier to take a crap. Sometimes it would work, sometimes it wouldn't. Tried zipper wax, didn't help. New Teknic Kangaroo leathers have just arrived though, so the Vanson leathers will get repaired and used for riding on the street as the dual zippers are much easier to deal with.
Camera is the new LIC Ego and it was mounted with a Fat Gecko Mini suction cup mount. I put the "waterproof" casing on to protect the camera and I think that made it a bit top heavy, hence the bouncy bouncy.
