Appreciate the enthusiasim but "spoiler" in the thread title might let those that want to see or read about the results, do just that, instead of getting the news upon opening the thread. Thanks

I saw the race and to be honest, one of the reasons for the BMW win was that another guy crashed. I do belive the S1000RR would have won anyway as it was much faster on the Portimao finish straight

The Superstock 1000 bikes were just 3 seconds of the laptimes that the best riders in WSBK put in (1.45 against 1.42). Pretty amazing for stock bikes where they only change the suspension and the riders is much younger (max 25 years).

Are talking about the Honda that tried to late brake into turn one on the final lap?

I thought Badovini had it in the bag. Although the trap speed of the BMW was 1.5 km short of the Honda, the Honda braked much later and the BMW got to 290 much much quicker than the Honda. Just for info, the speeds of 295 and 294 and 293 woud have put the top 2 Superstock bikes half way up the Superbike speeds. 12-14 Superbikes were slower!!

Hello,

Don't forget the Portimao straight line is just after a long and quite large curve so the final speed is the result of the speed outing the curve. So, the rider capability to get is as important as the power of the engine.
