Default Is 220LBS too heavy for stock suspension

I did all 4 level with CA super bike school but now its time to track my bike and coming from car racing I know just how important is the weight that you R about to load a shock with, so what should I do to start on my first track day?
Bike still w/all factory settings and I'm 6'3" 220 lbs.

I'm 6'1 220 with gear and I when I got my rider sag set right the bike didn't have enough static sag. It could be that me and my neighbors aren't rocket scientists, but I think it's more likely that we're at the top end of the stock springs. I'm curious to see what the more knowledgeable members think though.

The front is definitely not the right spring rate for your weight. That said, I know an expert class rider at our local track that will take the S1 out every now and again w/the stock suspension that weighs right around 215 w/out gear. He can't push it as hard as he'd like, but can keep an A-rider pace... after that the front will start chattering and pushing... if you go beyond that, you know what happens next

If you're intermediate and just doing track days and not pushing the brakes too deep into the turns, I'd say you'd do "OK" with it... but personally I'd always at a minimum get the bike at least sprung for your weight... that way you're using the correct area of the suspension travel....

I'm 6'4" and 230lbs and I have a 2012 on the way. Is the suspension going to be alright for me with just street riding? Should I get it adjusted for my weight before I even attempt to ride it?

With any bike, the first thing you should do is set the sag properly (or as close as possible). After that, ride it and see what you think... "Track" and "Street" riding are both relative to the individual... meaning, I may go out on the street and be the same weight as the next and feel the suspension does what I need it to do and am satisfied... the next guy may be pushing it harder and can't get the front to feel right at all going in, through, or out of the turns...

You should always set up your bike for your weight... You will enjoy it much more.

Congrats on your 2012...I'm waiting on my red beast to arrive too...as to weight I am wondering the same thing for me but from the other spectrum, I weigh 140 lbs soaking wet, sometimes as little as 138 when I am running a lot. I tend to push pretty hard though so I expect it to be perfect for me...my thoughts anyhow.

I weigh 240 pounds and even before i started doing regional racing, i immediately found the front end to be too soft. I went to 11 springs in the front, ohlins fork internals, and a ttx ohlins in the back, with a spring for my weight, and it was a different bike - on the road and on the track.

I am 6' @ 220 when I went to a pro shop to get the suspension set up they told me I was a the top of the spring and suggested if I got beyond "I" at the track to replace the shock. They are big fans of Penske shock over Öhlins though , because you don't have to figgle with it as much as with Öhlins .other then that for street riding I have no problems here.
