Default New curbing at VIR

Saw an article discussing new curbing at VIR on Roadracing World website.

Not really sure how well that's going to work with motorcycles. Some think it make be a "work in progress" type thing, but many are concerned about motorcycles sliding into those.

I need to see them first hand before I decide for sure, but it's not looking to great.

Certainly looks unfriendly.

Ridden there twice with Code's school and 1 track day. Really fun track! But those don't look fun. Not at all.

Wow, I heard talk about them and this is the first pic's I've seen. Maybe the notion of them not wanting bikes out there is true.

I love the track and several of us did our schools there, as well as many years worth of track days. I am hoping, as others, that the pictures do not depict the end state.

Overall it has seemed to several of us that those rumors might be true, but I am not sure. We hit several events there yearly between Cornerspeed and NESBA and we have noticed some changes.

Some of the discussion I've heard is that the new curbing is being paced adjacent to the existing curbing to keep the cars out of the dirt. And I can say I've gone there a few times not longer after cars have been on track and they have managed to excavate quite a bit of dirt in several corners.

But again... I'm hoping that is a transient state on the way to a smoother finished product. Laguna Seca has similar FIM spec curbing that doesn't appear as rough as what the pics show.

Neither is your spelling or syntax!

Btw, this is old news & in case you haven't heard, word has it that these are the first steps to making it a mostly 4 wheel racing track!

Which organization are you going to run with? I contacted Aaron S. from Cornerspeed, and he is going to be contacting ASRA, WERA, AMA, VIR etc and posting what he finds out. I'll be sure to add that here.

NJMP is still on the bucket list for me. A bunch of my northern friends go up there.

Barber is awesome! Have to leave a half day for the museum when you go.

We mostly hit VIR and are starting to hit CMP more regularly. I'll keep an eye out for events that we may be at that you might hit.

VIR is inviting some experts to look at the track. Aaron Stevenson (of Cornerspeed/Cornerspin) is invited. I'll post what he says.
