Default Racer Fitness training

What do you do to stay in shape for racing?
Last year I lifted hard and ran 3 miles a day, 6 days a week and thought I was in great shape…. until I started MotoX racing and found out that I was not!
Now I do cross fit ( I do d a workout called Insanity) in the AM and run 3 miles in the PM top that off with one day of heavy lifting a week

Just kind of curious what everyone does stay competitive

Thumbs up

CrossFit is excellent training!
I workout 4 days a week, mixed with ice hockey usually 3-4 times a week, somedays I do both.
Physical fitness without a doubt, contributes to successful track riding!
Can't wait for Tana!!

hahaha re-reading my post I found something kind of funny, that I didn't think of before.

I'm a road racer looking to keep in shape for racing, so what do I do? I take up motocross racing, .....now I have to work out harder so I have the stamina to do the sport I took up to stay in shape for the other sport.

we have a park right down from my house and one in A town I do the "city race series" state is too demanding with road racing, and yes a 15min moto is the equivalent of a 15min of a full on running sprint and you do 5 moto’s a day, they say it's one of the most demanding sports physically there is.

i have found that cycling is the best exercise for road racing (not sure about moto cross) and swimming for the upper body, i dont think aerobic fitness is as important, you mainly use shoulders and quads.

Currently doing P90x and running 4.5 miles 2/3 times a week. After I'm done with P90x I will try Insanity. All of the BeachBody workouts are intense and will help you with stamina and endurance. MotoX is no joke and def takes a different tole on your body and requires different training.
